Lord Foul's Bane | Stephen R. Donaldson

"From the moment you awaken until the moment you sleep, you will have to give your undivided attention to all the hard corners sharp edges of life....Anything that bruises, bumps, burns, breaks, scrapes, snags, pokes, or weakens you can maim, cripple, or even kill you." #lethal #QuotsyApril18

PedestalNix I've been thinking of re-reading Donaldson, especially since there's the new Covenant series since I read him last, but I wasn't sure how the books would hold up, and they're not a little depressing. Still, more books for the pile, I guess. 6y
TK-421 @PedestalNix I gave the first nine books a binge reread last year so that I could finally read the last book & I have to say that with each reread, I love these books more & more. I still find the first book is somewhat difficult to get through, but it's crucial to the rest of the series & Donaldson's love for the Land shines, pulling me through. In some ways, yes, they are depressing, yet they're also filled with hope, beauty, love, & courage. 6y

The Animals in that Country | Margaret Atwood

#lethal #quotsyapril18 @TK-421 I had the opposite experience from @GatheringBooks . I knew Atwood as a novelist first, and discovered her poetry through my daughter. We literally had this conversation: Her - I didn‘t know she wrote novels! Me - I didn‘t know she wrote poetry!

GatheringBooks the first two poems i remember reading were: (1) variations on the word love and (2) variations on the word sleep. :) her novels are also very poetic and lyrical. :) 6y
TK-421 It's awesome that you & your daughter can enhance each other's appreciation for a terrific writer! 6y

#QuotsyApril18 Day 27: Before I knew Margaret Atwood as a novelist, I read her poetry first, this was how I discovered her unsettling writing that unapologetically portrays womanity in all its brutal, #lethal, subjugated, silenced form. She is unparalleled.

Big Little Lies | Liane Moriarty

#AndItsAugust | Day 2: #Girlfriends | #BigLittleLies by #LianeMoriarty (also adapted into an #HBO series) |

Rating: 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A #murder...A tragic #accident ... Or just parents behaving badly? What‘s indisputable is that someone is #dead. Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, #schoolyardscandal, and the #littlelies that can turn #lethal.

[DELETED] 206653737 That's a good one for girlfriends! 7y
