The mystery at the heart of this book is sufficiently intriguing (& satisfyingly solved) to make it a pick, but for me the real joy in this read is in the place, characters & relationships Jane Harper has created. This is a seaside town I can see, hear & smell, populated with characters I easily recognise. Interestingly, the central characters were not investigating the crime in any way. Such an unusual approach for a crime novel. I loved it.
