Just joined StoryGraph and playing around with the monthly stats. Standouts in February were definitely Small Mercies, Cold Earth and the tagged. Was able to complete three Roxane Gay books for #authoramonth

You don't have to provide a spoiler, but can someone just tell me if this book had a conclusive ending? I ask because I read the first 75 pages and bailed on it. But then I watched both seasons of the Apple TV series, which I really enjoyed, and the series ended with a vague conclusion and no Season three. Do I need to force myself to read this boring, poorly written book? This is very frustrating. 😠

Kappadeemom I looked back on my Goodreads and I gave it 3 stars, which meant it was a fine book. Nothing that would blow my socks off but not a bad read either. I read it almost 6 years ago, so I can‘t even remember the book (i read 200 books a year) but I did compare it to a Fannie Flagg book, and I love her books. 🤷‍♀️ 3w
Rachel.Rencher I cannot remember a single detail about this book. I panned it which means I probably skimmed the ending. I'd say it's probably not worth it from my opinion. 😕 3w
keithmalek @Rachel.Rencher It's terrible. I looked up the ending to the novel online. Now, I'm even more glad that I bailed on it. 2w

Loved the story and ambiance of this book! Ady is such a cool character, and I wish Sanite was around a bit longer.

Evie Porter, professional imposter and con artist finds herself on a job that feels different than those that came before. When it starts to unravel, she has to cook up a scheme not just to save the job but also herself. This is a fun, twisty thriller that weaves around in the time of Evie‘s employ for the shady Mr. Smith and kept me guessing all the while. Recommended!

Bailedbailed

I‘ve been curious about Winstead for a while, so I finally dove in. I almost bailed very early when the main character discovered and fell in love with Twilight. (No, no, no.) Then I convinced myself that maybe she would start learning that women can have agency and aren‘t beholden to me. Now, just over halfway, her best friend/boyfriend “let her” do something and I‘m all done with this crap.

I was in the mood for a historical fiction read when I came across The Second Life of Mirielle West. I don't think I've read anything based around the leprosy colonies. It was interesting to learn about that but I can't say I really liked this book. Some of it felt like it was dragging on to me. Then the end felt so sudden almost like there should have been a few more chapters between the last and the epilogue.
