You don't have to provide a spoiler, but can someone just tell me if this book had a conclusive ending? I ask because I read the first 75 pages and bailed on it. But then I watched both seasons of the Apple TV series, which I really enjoyed, and the series ended with a vague conclusion and no Season three. Do I need to force myself to read this boring, poorly written book? This is very frustrating. 😠
Loved the story and ambiance of this book! Ady is such a cool character, and I wish Sanite was around a bit longer.
Evie Porter, professional imposter and con artist finds herself on a job that feels different than those that came before. When it starts to unravel, she has to cook up a scheme not just to save the job but also herself. This is a fun, twisty thriller that weaves around in the time of Evie‘s employ for the shady Mr. Smith and kept me guessing all the while. Recommended!
I‘ve been curious about Winstead for a while, so I finally dove in. I almost bailed very early when the main character discovered and fell in love with Twilight. (No, no, no.) Then I convinced myself that maybe she would start learning that women can have agency and aren‘t beholden to me. Now, just over halfway, her best friend/boyfriend “let her” do something and I‘m all done with this crap.
I was in the mood for a historical fiction read when I came across The Second Life of Mirielle West. I don't think I've read anything based around the leprosy colonies. It was interesting to learn about that but I can't say I really liked this book. Some of it felt like it was dragging on to me. Then the end felt so sudden almost like there should have been a few more chapters between the last and the epilogue.
This heartfelt story captures a boy‘s survival and resilience during Hurricane Katrina, shedding light on the human impact of natural disasters.
