Finished this up on my lunch and I love Fanny Price but as a friend and I decided the other day, she's kind of a sad sack. My heart aches for her. She reminds me so much of the timid, shy child I was growing up. The heartbreak she must have felt being surrounded by such bumbling, egotistical idiots all the time made this hard to read at certain points. And I don't think Edmund was deserving of her love. #mansfieldparkreadalong #janeaustenreadalong

LoverofLit @MerinEliza My favorite parts was actually the lively discussions between Edmund and Miss Crawford on the pros and cons of being a man of the cloth! And the rest was just meh 😄 Glad I'm not alone! 7y

MerinEliza Yeah i remember that part. Have you seen the movie? They even changed a lot. The movie was a bit cringey with the changes they made. 7y

Ten year old Fanny leaves her poor family, to live with her mom's sister and her family and Mansfield Park. The Bertrams are wealthy and Fanny is introduced to a different lifestyle. Like in all Austen novel there's drama and love stories, but some of these feels a bit more modern and if I hadn't known that novel is written in the early 1800s and would have thought it was written today.

This dramatization was marvelous. I loved hearing David Tennant's and Benedict Cumberbatch's voices. But I do think you lose something by listening to a dramatization versus reading the book or listening to a more traditional audiobook. I am going to try to fit in an actual re-read this month.
