panIt wasn‘t all bad, just repetitive. The idea of the beginnings of Hollywood and exploring the main characters‘ friendship, was a good starting point. But, personally, it became dull. One of those where the idea is better than the end result.

Now I want to read more about Francis Marion - Melanie Benjamin has a way of sending me down the internet rabbit hole of historic American women. ...Also, had I read this prior to 2020, I wouldn‘t have noticed impact of the 1918 pandemic was excluded from this period piece.

pickI really enjoyed this look into the beginnings of "flickers" and "movies" and the women who created them. I had no idea that at the beginning women did dominate the industry. It was also a look into friendship and how you grow apart and back together.#bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
