Lesanne @BarbaraTheBibliophage I have found the family history much more interesting than I thought I would. And I know some have said it presents nothing new fact-wise but I‘m struck by the perspective of someone that lived within the dysfunction. I‘m enjoying it! 5y

As the child of a family that suffered from addiction in every single branch of the family tree, this b.s. just makes me livid. I have to say, the lying that becomes toxic positivity can be incredibly harmful as well.

p.s. I finished the book this morning. Had an important family task to accomplish today, so I didn‘t get to post more. Here they come!!

SiameseCatsRead This reminds me of my mom. As a teenager (1960s), she was gifted a "pocket book" by my grandmother (her mom). My mom hated it, and ungratefully gave it back. Words were exchanged, and now my grandmother uses it as a bathroom trash container!!! She regifts it to my mom, and the next year, my mom regifts it to her. At least we've all gotten a good laugh out of it! 5y
