Wow. Got the audio & print from the library. Thought I would mostly do audio, but am so in to this book I will mostly read so I can absorb it. Only 25 pages in but the history and how plastics changed our society is absolutely fascinating. Plastic made billiards/pool a “common man” game when the balls no longer needed to be made of plastic. And shellac was once made@from beetles. It took 15,000 beetles 6 months to make a pound of shellac!

SamAnne And loving my porch heat lamp so I can read outside when it‘s 38 degrees out! 3y

#thankfulthursday
Plastic Free is a very good book on getting started with eliminating plastic from your life.
1. Parents named me. Popular 70s name - Jennifer
2. We have heat in the house! I‘m definitely thankful for that as there have been many times we had no heat.

Cosmos_Moon Glad you have heat! Jennifer was popular for a while in the 70-80s 🥰 3y

Pickpick

The breadth of products made from petroleum is mind boggling. This was an interesting read, and the Mauritius oil spill was in the back of my mind as I finished this up. Enlightening, educational, and at times scary. Lots of scientific information packed into this one, but presented in a manner that was easy to read and very understandable.

wanderinglynn It‘s surprising how much petroleum is in food. 🤢 4y
SW-T @wanderinglynn Yes, and not a good surprise either. 😳 4y

Love the fact that a #British book on plastic pollution can‘t help referencing #Shakespeare:
“Honestly, if MacBeth‘s witches had got together to create a system that would cause maximum bother, I don‘t think they could have magicked up anything more pernicious”
