Tore through this after reading the first one and didn‘t find it as coherent or final-feeling as its first half. Exciting and definitely some great scenes and character studies but overall plot fell apart for me..boo, I love this series!
Setting took a strange turn into Lake District and a robin goodfellow character, hence my British seasonal produce dish towel and Van gogh fruit tree branch print...

A well-turned-out #historical #mystery, if a little prim. Would read more, especially *spoiler alert* where the heroine gets a HEA! 😝

Finished listening to this book on audio—what an exciting finale! And while two characters were on the train through the forest, I was on a train through Baltimore! (Or should‘ve been, if Amtrak wasn‘t delayed 😤)
Some of the landscape evokes the industrial unkempt area of Portland that provides setting for the book...

The backlog of just-Read books that I‘m finally getting to cataloguing and reviewing.

Favorites: Failing Up for its big-heartedness, The Guynd for its honest look at the self in a relationship that didn‘t work out, and How to Not Always Be Working, for its poking at such a difficult subject for creative entrepreneurs.

A steady, interesting sort of novel. Omniscient and head-hopping but sweet for all that. Makes me feel like it is old or self-pubbed but nope. Good enough to read the second in series. Probably diving into this pre WWI setting because of heroine #maisiedobbs... who piqued my curiosity!

Took a loooong time to finish the audiobook since I do not commute by car but it still has me thinking a month later about the many vignettes of history presented...fascinating stuff, and hopefully helps us get better prepared to understand the opposition...

Pause in your horror at my corner-folding, dear ones, to remark on how many top vs bottom folds there are: top means good; bottom, bad.
This was such a good story (and romance), but why were there so many unexplained pieces and inconsistencies? Perhaps because it‘s 579 pages? Anyway, I‘m off to watch the series now. 🤩
