Every now and again I need a little tune-up/deep dive into my alter ego who is a fulfilled and effective psychotherapist. This is my calling! Yalom is so comfortable in his skin, lending his years of experience and thinking outside of the paradigm of the field to guide budding therapists. If only I had this when I was young!
A really solid book! Overall this book really forces you to evaluate your thought process and why you believe what you believe.
The authors focus on a few narrow topics that are pretty controversial and spark highly emotional responses. But their principles apply to pretty much every area of life. Are you convinced of a mindset based off heuristics or based off quantitative data? Be aware of the why behind your life choices

The true victims of conspiracy theories are those that suffer from the lack of benefits from the very thing that could save them but is demonized by those that are choosing to ignore the factual evidence.

"The main focus of this book is not to argue back and forth about vaccinations, GMOs, or nuclear power but rather to present a framework to understand why people deny scientific evidence and how this situation can be improved."
"What then causes smart people to make decisions and adopt positions that have no factual basis? That is the question with which this book wrestles."
Adding this to my #TBR stack.

1. I love self checkout because I can bag my groceries the way I want. Before I would either ask them if I could bag my own groceries or rebag them after paying. I'm very particular about it, my family knows to just let me bag everything.
2. I make lists for everything.
3. I will quote tv shows/movies during conversations if something in the convo reminds me of a quote.
