Freida McFadden didn‘t disappoint with this novel. There were so many twists I wasn‘t sure how it would end. Sam and Abby have been married for years and have been unsuccessful in having a baby. Monica, Abby‘s assistant volunteers to be a surrogate for them. Lots of things go wrong, of course. The characters were wrapped up some I liked and others were not good humans. 4/5

I almost always find McFadden's books to be well developed with a complete out of left field twist at the end. This time around I came away somewhat disappointed. The story stressed me out something fierce, which isn't neceoa bad thing, but I want it to all come together in the end. And with this #audiobook, I didn't even like the ending. Some of the twist I was down for; however, the actual ending itself seemed contrived and irritating. 3.5 ⭐

Can‘t listen to it. The narration is truly awful. Breathy and weak and utterly terrible.

After finishing Mara‘s recent #BOTM pick, I wanted to check out more from Mara, so I started listening to her debut! With multiple timelines & perspectives, there were a few transitional moments where I wished I was physically reading it. But it immediately reeled me in when Sylvie, just before returning from maternity leave and woken in the night, thinks she sees a body floating in the pond next door! The neighbor‘s story emerges all with twists!

A good thriller, but it could have been a little bit shorter as it seemed to drag on. I really liked Anna's character, and I did sympathise with Debbie.

Queen of Hearts is an exceptional suspense thriller with an original protagonist who is easy to root for. The story is plotted with such precision and detail to draw the reader in that you don't realize how far until the very end and come back into the real world around you.
