I was reminded of this by @Shadowfat

Imagine if all teachers adhered to these basic reading rights.

Yeah_I_Read I was just feeling guilty for re-reading some of the Throne of Glass books and this made me feel better 😊😊 7y
DebbieGrillo @Yeah_I_Read I'm glad this gave you permission to feel good abput it. As an English teacher I've always thought I was odd that I've NEVER reread a book. 7y
Yeah_I_Read I don‘t reread very often but I‘m so addicted to this series. 7y
DGRachel Especially when I was younger, I rarely ever reread a book. Now, though, I have some books that I love so much, it's like greeting an old friend when I open the pages. Many I have reread multiple times. I may lose the element of surprise, but there's comfort from those books. 7y
[DELETED] 3803335244 I adhere to these rules for my students! But I'm a homeschool teacher & my students are my kiddos, so probably doesn't count, lol 😂 When I was in high school I didn't like certain books because I was forced to read it. I've since re-read a few of those books voluntarily & I actually like them. Funny how freedom & choice make you feel differently. 7y

DebbieGrillo @ForeverNerdy it totally counts! 7y
DebbieGrillo @Dominika You have the right to bail on a book. 7y
Meglet The fact that we need to be reminded of this...why is there so much reader guilt associated with these things? 7y
DebbieGrillo @Meglet I think teachers (I am one) have in the past put too many parameters on reading and have had narrow ideas about what counted as valuable reading. That is changing, must change. Teachers are the target audience for this book. 7y
Meglet So then we as students who have come through that teaching have learned that guilt...what I think is so great is that when you remove those parameters and encourage this bill of rights, we suddenly find we‘re able to enjoy a lot of what we were forced to read (and not be ashamed about disliking the rest). 7y
DebbieGrillo @Meglet You're right about both. 7y
