This story teaches children the value of perseverance to keep trying, and to not give up. Very important messages can be taught with this book and will build students confidence in overcoming challenges.

A lively retelling of the classic tale. This book has vibrant illustrations and engaging dialogue. I love this story because it highlights the moral that “slow and steady wins the race.“

A teacher could use this to have students compare this story to other books of the tortoise, and the hare. Students could compare and contrast the stories. This also shows how fables can change over time.

Week 4: Traditional Literature. Such a great story with a great lesson for students. I love the illustrations in this one. as they are accurate and modern. Published 1984.

It might be fun to share this episode of Reading 🌈 with the kids during women's history month. It could be a part of an aviation unit. It's a little scary to consider how minimal her plane was. Kids today really don't hear many stories about how women couldn't wear pants. So this book is loaded with story and research starters. #reading rainbow #pioneeringwomen

This is the very first picture book by writer/illustrator #DonBrown. It chronicles the 1916 flight from Chicago to NYC by #RuthLaw with charming illustrations and simple text. I wish it had given more info about Ruth Law in a biographical note at the end of the book.
