A Man and His Cat 1 | Umi Sakurai

Pickpick

I was hoping to post this yesterday to keep on track with my #100DayProject2025, but after I sprained my ankle 🙄, my day kinda went off the rails. Anyway, this was a sweet story about a cat and a man, both in need of each other, and their early days together. I haven‘t read manga in a while and it took me a minute to get the hang of it again! But once I did, I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to the next in the series. 💜🐾

Ruthiella Wishing you a speedy recovery! ❤️‍🩹 6h
MemoirsForMe Oh my! Hope your sprain is getting better. I guess all that dancing on tables after retirement might not be the best idea. 😁🤭😉 5h

Summer Sunday! ☀️📖🍺

I like summertime, but I really hate this intense heat! Luckily, I have a covered balcony and a cold beer while reading about Carl and Princess Donut!

Aims42 Excellent company on a hot afternoon 😁 23h

As always, I‘m grateful for my kitties, Sadie and Nicky. 😻 They just turned 12, and Nicky is having some health challenges, but they‘re still the best reading buddies ever. #catsoflitsy

Thanks for the tag, @eggs 😸

Adventures in weeding. I tried reading the Warrior series and DNF after 5 pages. Maybe I should start with book 5? I almost never read a whole series.

Ruthiella I really think one has to be a kid to enjoy these books. My niece loved them in elementary school. (edited) 6d
mandarchy @Ruthiella I haven't had a student get beyond the first book in a couple of years. I have several copies of the first book and then the entire series. I don't need several copies of each book anymore. 6d

If you know, you know!!!! 🐈😽📚💳

(But, this is what my husband and I refer to as returning books to the library…dropping them off in the Dewey Box)!

This is a weird book. And it is about how cats tamed us. However, I think it's rather hard on cats, and I refuse to believe that Druzy's only interest in me is that I feed her. The historical parts are rather fascinating. The little cat in the corner is the felis silvestris lybica, the most direct ancestor of the housecat. Unlike dog breeds, different cat breeds are the result of breeding mutations, not different ancestors 🐈

Leniverse Are you telling me that the Siamese cat and the Norwegian Forest Cat have the same ancestry? That's wild 😂 6d
Jari-chan I also tend to refuse the thought of cats only wanting food and warmth from us. Sure, they do want that (loudly), but there's more than that. 1d

June turned out to be a reasonably good month for reading after all. I had my doubts a few times! Starter Villain was my favorite, though there were some other contenders.

I finished Cocaine Blues in the wee hours of the morning and enjoyed it. Entertaining and compelling, while also addressing some serious issues that unfortunately persist today.

I almost skipped this month because this seemed way outside what I typically enjoy. But I decided to give it a try and found it to be a lot of fun. It's a quick, lighthearted, quirky read that gave me Megamind and Despicable Me vibes. Genius cats, foul-mouthed dolphins demanding unionization, and a secret volcanic island lair all make for a bizarre and clever adventure. #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville

Soubhiville Glad you tried it! Scalzi is always clever and quirky. 🙂 1w
AmyG I loved this book. So absurd and fun! 1w

Charlie is in a really shitty place in life when he hears his super wealthy, estranged uncle died. Then, his uncle‘s assistant shows up on his doorstep to ask him to host the funeral.
This sets off a series of events that Charlie could never imagine including spy cats, guard dolphins in the middle of a labor dispute, and a secret society of villains who all know his name.

Audiobooks narrated by Wil Wheaton are always a yes for me.
