Pickpick

This is a contemporary Japanese re-telling of the Faustian bargain. It‘s an interesting philosophical novella, one that falls smack bang in the middle of Paulo Coelho and Haruki Murakami. Pick it up when you‘re in a pensive mood but short on time. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/if-cats-disappeared-from-the-world-genki-ka...

My mom loved this series. She was the one who sparked my love of reading. I love that my nieces and nephews (an some of their kids as well) also love to read. My mom would be so happy that she passed that down. As for this book series, I would love to hear your recommendations for other fun cozy mysteries. Bonus points if they take place in bookstores. Also, I am happy that @amandalewey is now on Litsy. ❤️

AmyG I loved these too. Read them years and years ago. 1w

Mehso-so

Charlie finds himself in dire need of a miracle on his last $100 and aspirations to buy a pub. Little does he know he is about to be thrust into the playground of trillionaires with villainous tendencies after his uncle leaves him heir to his companies. With a volcanic lair and spy cats this book throws ya for a loop! I really enjoyed the second half of the book however the first half felt a bit draggy. Loved Hera the spy cat!

I LOVED the first half of this, which was a welcome surprise because mysteries typically aren‘t my thing. Then, the election happened and I was suddenly less invested. That‘s also around when the mystery picked up. Your guess is as good as mine about whether my flagging enthusiasm was due to a change in the book or in the world.

What I can say, with certainty, is that C.M. Waggoner is incredibly funny. I‘ll definitely be reading more of her work!
