Grim Wolds, England: Winifred Notty arrives at Ensor House prepared to play the perfect governess-she'll dutifully tutor her charges, Drusilla and Andrew, tell them bedtime stories, and only joke about eating children. But long, listless days spent within the estate's dreary confines come with an intimate knowledge of the perversions and pathetic preoccupations of the Pounds family-Mr. Pounds can't keep his eyes off Winifred's chest.

A university professor murdering predatory men?! Very intriguing but blurs the line of moral revenge killing. Nevertheless, I found myself rooting for the women as I was reading this. Great plot twists but the ending was somewhat predictable and unrealistic. 4⭐s
It was good, but didn't quite live up to the author‘s Crimson Lake books. Maybe because those books are about a specific duo, with other characters in their orbit, and while this one also has what I would consider to be two main characters, the focus constantly shifted to other characters. Or maybe the characters in this one just weren't as appealing. Still worth reading though.

Quick question for the #hashtagbrigade
The votes are still coming in, but the top 2 right now are both chunksters. How do we feel about that? The tagged book will take almost 4 months to read a chapter a day, and Anna Karenina has 239 chapters! Would everyone be willing to do Anna Karenina alongside whatever other books we are reading? Maybe start it in February as its on buddy read? Thoughts? Ideas?

Terribly written and terribly edited, we follow our main protagonist Kathryn as she realises her boyfriend of a couple of months has been dating two other women. From there the Ex Girlfriend Murder Club is formed.
Listening to Kathryn's mother talk in stereotypical broken English was just uncomfortable and very lazy representation.
However it was so stupid, I had fun with it.

What a great #bookclub pick! This #SpookySeasonRead isn‘t too scary, but maintains a great, tense atmosphere in homage to the titular detective. And while familiarity with Hitchcock‘s films adds to the reading experience, other than a few spoiled plots, not really necessary. The plot holds surprises— though the cast isn‘t particularly sympathetic. Still, it has a cinematic flair of its own & I couldn‘t put it down! Looking forward to discussing!

I am soooo ready to watch this on PBS!!! One of my favorite books!
