I am really trying to finish this before I leave for vacation on Friday. I have 250 pages to go, so that might not be possible...
Ultimately a pick though it took me a long time to get into properly. The characters really breathed once I got to know them and it had a very Victorian feel to it, like apart from a few stylistic things it could have been written in the 1870s. The writing about the river was so beautiful, and the drama of the ending got me very involved even if I didn‘t love all of it to begin with.
Greetings from rainy london! I‘m audiowalking at around 2 hours today for #mrbook1inamillion readathon. Got held up at work and out this eve so I think I‘ll only get to around ten hours but still a pleasure to be reading with you all. I love seeing Americans‘ daytime posts when it‘s night now for me

I'm loving catching up with Alice Oswald's backlist (before I'll let myself read her new one)! I love how she sees things. I love how she expresses what she sees. I'd be as ill-tempered as all hell that she hits the notes I find such hard work to get close to, but her poetry is just so damned good I can only be delighted by it.
Tonight‘s #bookanddinner! Chicken coconut curry and hibiscus rosé hard cider :)
