#RedRoseSeptember
I looked up #Saturn5 & saw that JFK‘s assassination was in the lyrics which made me think of this book that my dad had on his shelves & that I read during a summer when I was 11 or 12 only because he said it was interesting. It was though I skimmed parts & was more fascinated by the pictures & the signature page. 800+ pages that concluded Oswald acted alone although doubt & conspiracy theories exist
🤓#readingabovemygradelevel 😉

arlenefinnigan Sounds like it might be above my grade level too 😉 5y
Cinfhen Ditto @arlenefinnigan but I‘m NOT convinced he acted alone!!! 5y

Nothing to do with the planet or #Saturn5, but this tale of a walk around East Anglia came to mind for today‘s #RedRoseSeptember prompt.

@arlenefinnigan @Cinfhen

Cinfhen I bet this is a #1001Book @BarbaraBB ??!?! Um, I think I liked about 5 so far🤪 (edited) 5y
arlenefinnigan Sounds intriguing! 5y

#RedRoseSeptember

(Day 11 - #Saturn5)

*I hadn‘t heard this song, but the lyrics landed squarely on my memories of the death of JFK, of course. The only person ever prosecuted for this crime was Clay Shaw (top right, in car), and he was acquitted. The prosecutor, Jim Garrison, was the Orleans Parish DA (Louisiana), and the author of the book (top left). As crazy as I thought his book was, Oliver Stone made a movie from it, so what do I know? 😂

arlenefinnigan I mean, it was convenient that Lee Harvey Oswald was shot dead, wasn't it? And you'd have thought there's be *slightly* higher security around the man accused of murdering the president...... 5y
gradcat @arlenefinnigan I know, right? By the way, your song choices are amazing! I thought I knew a lot of music, but I don‘t know many of yours! ♥️ 5y
Cinfhen I thought of President 35 too!! And I agree ☝️ hardly know many of these songs but I‘m enjoying 5y

gradcat @Cinfhen I know! Where was I? 😂 5y
arlenefinnigan @gradcat why thank you. I take great civic pride in Lancashire and its music. 5y
gradcat @arlenefinnigan As well you should! ♥️ 5y
DebinHawaii I just picked The Warren Commission Report that says Oswald acted alone as my pick. Great minds... 🤣 5y
gradcat @DebinHawaii Absolutely! You can‘t help but think of that stuff...great minds indeed! 😂♥️ 5y

#Saturn5 is a kind of rocket 🚀 so I went with the cover of this early Heinlein novel that I‘ve not read for this #RedroseSeptember prompt. Heinlein is sort of hit and miss for me so I may never read this title! 👽

arlenefinnigan Perfect 👌 5y
Cinfhen Not familiar with this book or author but I seem to recall a movie by that name!! 5y
Ruthiella @arlenefinnigan Thanks 😀! 5y

Ruthiella @Cinfhen Heinlein is probably most famous for his sci-fi novels Starship Troopers or Stranger in a Strange Land. 👽 5y
Cinfhen Starship troopers is definitely a film!!!! 5y
Ruthiella @Cinfhen Yes, it was a movie. I liked it even though it was a little goofy and OTT. Plus it had Neil Patrick Harris in it! 😃 5y
ljuliel I like the title of this. I have an X Brother in Law who called me a Space Cadet. 😁 I found it quite a compliment ,in an odd sort of way. 5y
Ruthiella @ljuliel I think it can be a endearing nickname!😀 5y

arlenefinnigan Sounds cheerful 😉 5y
gradcat @arlenefinnigan You are such a card...I love your wit! ♥️😂 5y
arlenefinnigan @gradcat the Lancashire (or at least scouse) term would be 'sarky arse' 😉 5y

gradcat @arlenefinnigan Oh, yay! New British slang for my collection! I love that!! ♥️ 5y
Cinfhen Sarky Arse ~ love it @arlenefinnigan 5y
TrishB @arlenefinnigan @gradcat @Cinfhen definitely has to be said in Scouse accent. 5y
gradcat @TrishB @arlenefinnigan @Cinfhen Oh, you‘d be very surprised—I practice my Scouse accent at least 30 minutes a day! 🤣🤣 (edited) 5y
TrishB @gradcat 😂😂 so love to hear that! 5y
gradcat Wouldn‘t you just? From an American from the Deep South—gotta be good! 😂🤣😅 5y
Cathythoughts Woohoo @gradcat loving the craic ( Irish for fun 👍🏻🤣 5y
gradcat @Cathythoughts I‘m loving some new UK words for my...um...*collection*! ♥️♥️ 5y
Cathythoughts @gradcat so I‘m from the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 & we are not part of the UK. But we are close neighbors & share a lot ... ( although it‘s all very complicated at the moment ) 😊😘 5y
TrishB @Cathythoughts if it was Facebook I‘d class the current relationship as complicated too! We have a long and twisty history. Many families intertwined, I know mine is one. ❤️ 5y
gradcat @Cathythoughts You know? I knew that—sorry! I guess I just didn‘t think about that in the heat of the moment—my bad. But I agree that it all seems extremely complicated just now...😂 5y

Not about Saturn, but this nonfiction tale is set in NASA and stars a major egomaniac who will do just about anything to gain notoriety. I‘m not a fan of this book, but I know some people who are. Mezrich writes about the guy who decides to steal moon rocks from NASA. #Saturn5 #RedRoseSeptember

arlenefinnigan That's a hell of a title 😂 5y
Cinfhen Oh, I‘m in the liked it camp ❤️ 5y

Cathythoughts Love this title 👍🏻🤣 5y
Librarybelle @Cinfhen My library system selected it as the One Book choice several years ago. I was the only one on the committee that did not care for it. It turned out to be the lowest participating One Book by the community in the One Book history. A lot had to do with the title - I cannot tell you how many people yelled at me for having the title on display. Personally, I may not like it because I really don‘t like the guy. That‘s probably swayed my mind. 5y
Cinfhen Patrons can be ridiculous 🙄 5y
Librarybelle @Cinfhen Yes. Those who didn‘t verbally complain would move the display around so certain words were not visible, either by turning the book cover or rearranging book ends to hide parts of the cover. It became a daily thing for me to straighten the display. My staff and I certainly will never forget that year! Sigh... 5y
erzascarletbookgasm Misleading title 🤨😄 5y
gradcat @Librarybelle That is the most ridiculous thing I‘ve ever heard! Omigod! I worked in the library when I was in grad school, but since it was a university library, I suppose that kind of thing never arose. How pedestrian! Btw, I, too, am in the did not like camp. ♥️ 5y
gradcat @erzascarletbookgasm Yes, and I‘d be willing to bet that the title is the reason why the reaction to the book is so mixed—those words get into your subconscious and color the book, in a way.... 5y
Librarybelle @erzascarletbookgasm Definitely misleading! 5y
Librarybelle @gradcat It did seem rather silly! 5y

Saw this in a bookshop in Oxford not long after the Inspiral Carpets drummer, Craig Gill, passed away. Felt a bit emotional tbh.
@Cinfhen

Cinfhen I‘m always sad when a musician passes away. It‘s like a bit of light has left this earth 5y
