I made it through! Honestly, I do not see how this novel works after being scrubbed of the fic. The emotional weight of it relies entirely on feelings readers bring to it from HP. Genuinely, nothing here for me. Very curious to see the wider world's reaction to Alchemised but I don't think I'll be reading it. I don't trust that the publisher invested in the editorial work this would have needed to stand on its own (if that edit were possible).

Holy. Moly. This book deals with a lot - self harm, drugs, sexual abuse, addiction, homelessness, etc etc. It was really good, and I cried 1000 times at the end. Everything about Riley was hard to read, because as the reader, you just knew it wasn‘t going to end well. Great book overall! (3)

A dynamic group of artistic, queer teens struggling with deep self-loathing find deep friendship and inspiration in one another. I loved the journey this took us on through each character‘s struggles, as well as the process of identifying and talking about eating disorders. There is no solid conclusion, but it feels natural since their story isn‘t over, just this part of it. #LGBTQIA #MentalHealth #HighSchool #Comics

This book was unlike something I‘ve read before. It was hauntingly beautiful and I really felt for the characters.
