For #Fridaythe13th Readathon I read seven books, I finished six of them. Three were a group of Poe's short stories. The Battle for The Pumpkin King and Strega Nona were fantastic. Kitten's First Full Moon was adorable. And so far, The Physick Book Of Deliverance Dane is good.

My #spookyreadathon got a bit derailed in week 2 🤷🏻‍♀️. But I finally finished this tonight.

Without saying a word about the pandemic or the current political situation, it does a LOT toward explaining how we‘re fighting about basic provable facts. I was not expecting that.

Link to full review below. In short, I recommend it 👍🏻

#spookyreadathon got off to a sluggish start - I had some non-spooky reads to finish. But I have 5 done ✔️ and I‘m working on 3 more this weekend.
So far, I really like everything I‘ve read 3.5 ⭐️ and up 👍🏻

Happy Reading 📚 👻 🕯

#spookyreadathon comes to an end!
40 reads - only 3 DNFs
19 Audiobooks
This went great! It was just the break I needed. I met some new loves, & revisited some classics. But still, I‘m left with so much still to read 📚📚📚

Day 20 of my #spookyreadathon and I‘m at 23/31 Reads! The top left was the original plan. But as I‘ve come to really enjoy the experience of being told a spooky story, I‘ve added in several bonus audiobooks (bottom right).
White is for Witching is not exactly what I want right now, so I‘m shelving it til next month.
Still working on The Witches.
Starting up Disappearance at Devil‘s Rock.

DivaDiane That‘s amazing! 6y
Sweettartlaura @DivaDiane it‘s amazing what you can accomplish when you (mostly) turn off the tv and social media. 6y
DivaDiane I always keep intending to, but then Litsy, Goodreads and the YOUapp keep beckoning. 6y

My first #DNF of my #spookyreadathon. After 11%, I just couldn‘t care about this.

Any other suggestions for spooky audiobooks? They‘ll be bonus/filler for my 31 days/31 Reads Booktober... please and thank you 🙏🏻😊

Texreader My mom read this one and told me not to bother. I didn‘t and traded it in at a Little Library. So sad this was a dismal failure for Koontz. My fave creepy books are Dracula and The Historian. 6y
Sweettartlaura Thanks for the Rex‘s, @Texreader !❤️ 6y

5⭐️
Recommended as an audiobook.
What happens when adults are left in an amusement park for 4 weeks after a hurricane? Listen and find out.
The story is told in a sequence of interviews. It‘s suspenseful, inventive, and horrific. Everything you want for a #spookyreadathon 🖤

Cinfhen Sounds like a fun atmospheric read 6y

Mongrels: A Novel | Stephen Graham Jones

This is a coming-of-age story about family, belonging, and finding your place in the world. The narrator struggles being raised by wolves - his aunt, uncle, & grandfather. He doesn‘t know if his time will come to turn. In the meantime, he lives on the margins, learning how to survive & hide. And he learns the value of his own gifts, no matter what pack he runs with.
Another great read for #spookyreadathon - working on the rest right now.

@SGJ

This was unexpectedly lovely. Haunting, you could fairly say.
Michael is out of reach - like, in Alaska - when his wife goes into labor too soon. He rushes home to her & their newborn son.
But things aren‘t as they should be. And Greta, a doula, is ... around.
The story unfolds over a week. A week that lasts a lifetime.
Enjoy this for its creepiness. But be prepared for its tenderness.
