A beautiful, ironic, yet hopeful YA debut novel in verse from Elisabet Velasquez! Sarai and her sister Estrella navigate their rough Bushwick neighborhood overrun with rats, roaches, drug dealers and crime. And Sarai questions everything; including what “making it” really means

I am a 44-year-old woman who seldom sees her culture accurately represented in YA. This #NovelInVerse proves that #RepresentationMatters #OwnVoices ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Raw and emotional. I listened to this audiobook and had to keep rewinding to hear phrases that were packed with meaning. I loved the narration. #poetry #ownvoices #novelinverse

I never really experienced "teen drama" myself, and still don't really experience "drama". Even so, I enjoyed this book about a teen riddled with angst and self-loathing on a journey that wasn't supposed to be about (but we all knew it would be about) self-discovery. I loved the ending. It was also fun to hear the author narrate. #queerbook #lgbtq #lgbtcharacter #lgbt #drag #selfdiscovery #teendrama

#Movember #day2 #Music Music is almost as important to me as reading. My taste in music is just as eclectic as my reading, I love classical right through to heavy metal. I grew up first listening to 70s heavy rock from my brothers, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, then 80s pop, Madonna, Prince, 90s grunge, Nirvana, RHCP then the 00s, Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams. My heart belongs to Jeff Buckley, but lately I find myself back to the 70s a lot, Bowie & the Stones

vivastory Great post! I also have eclectic tastes in music. Although I tend to gravitate towards contemporary alt rock I love classical (wrote a paper in school about Tchaikovsky, who I found fascinating), jazz, early blues, 70s rock (T-Rex, David Bowie) etc 5y
