The Elusive Pimpernel | Baroness Orczy

Pickpick

I'm slowly making my way through all the Pimpernel books in chronological order. They're definitely rather same-y, which is why they're fun to read about once every couple of months 😂 This one was a little slow on action and a little long on everyone contemplating potential action, but I still enjoy the absolutely ridiculous melodrama. Published 1908. If you're looking for some fist-shaking villains and a hero who would rather die with honor ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) than live without it!!!! - then you should check out this series. Definitely start with the original, though.

bookandbedandtea I looove the original book (for the melodrama!) but have never read any of the rest of the series; you're inspiring me to seek them out. 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @bookandbedandtea - They are definitely similar in vibe. I've been reading them in chronological rather than published order, so I've already read Sir Percy Leads the Band, I Will Repay (which didn't seem to have as much Pimpernel??), and The League of the Pimpernel (short stories). They can be a little repetitive, so I'm spreading them out. 😂 1mo

After a job change and having my reading be primarily related to a nutrition certification I was finishing up, I am finally back to reading for fun. Reading this on serial reader was the perfect way to get back to reading.

It kept me engaged and although I suspected some things might occur, it still kept me guessing which I love in a book.

What an interesting read! I am unsure how much of this book is based on fact, not knowing much about Madame Trussauds. The book itself is a bit macabre with interesting sketches throughout making it highly original. I was engrossed throughout with Little and what trials and hopefully luck she would encounter.
