Even though this may have taken almost two years to read, this book was fantastic. So well-researched. And doesn't shy away from some of the problematic aspects of Victoria's personality and reign. Y'know, like her disdain for suffragettes 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Ultimately a fascinating, complicated woman.

This is my review for #theunreadshelfproject2019‘s August challenge of letting Bookstagram choose a book for me to read in August. The choices were The Mermaid or Conversations With Friends. Bookstagram made a good decision. I like books with Mermaids in them and I like retellings. The rule of the challenge for this month is to read the book Bookstagram chooses for you to read or you have to unhaul it. Now, I don‘t have to unhaul this book.

I‘ve done all the challenges for #theunreadshelfproject2019 so far. I made a post in July asking Bookstagram to pick a book for me to read in August so I did that and the winner was The Mermaid by Christina Henry so I‘m going to try my best to read it this month. The rule is to read it this month or get rid of it. I‘m not going to get rid of it if I don‘t read it this month. I‘m just going to add it to next month‘s TBR.

This is how I did in July on #theunreadshelfproject2019.⁣

I read 8 books. ⁣

📚1 ebook⁣
📚3 audiobooks from Audible ⁣
📚4 physical books off of my book shelf ⁣

I unhauled 3 of the physical books I read. I kept 1. ⁣

On my birthday in July using a gift card, I acquired 3 new books.

This is my review for an ARC I won from Goodreads a year ago. The writing was beautiful. It didn‘t have anything insightful to say about relationships but it was interesting and entertaining. I‘m counting this for #theunreadshelfproject2019. I‘m also going to be putting this book in the recycling bin. #tbrjarpick

Some of my July TBR! I pulled a handful of books that have been floating around my shelves for a while. Mostly ARCs and all on the shorter side. Also have Strange the Dreamer going on audio and a book I started in February (!!!) that needs reading. Fingers crossed for a good reading month :) All of these will count for #theunreadshelfproject2019

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I LOVED this book! This follows Addie which is the best friend from Lina the main character from Love & Gelato! She is in Ireland with all her family at an aunt‘s destination wedding! Things happen and we meet new characters and follow them through many adventures in Ireland! I just loved everything about this book! I shed a tear or two in some parts and laughed in others.. I can‘t wait for her next book! #theunreadshelfproject2019

Holy. Wow. I have no words. This is beautiful. And sad. And very, very violent. One of the best graphic novels I've read. Ever. So. Good.
