Interesting meditation questions. I think these are things we all need to spend some time thinking about. Unfortunately, if you‘re an American that third one is an absolute no, and there‘s not much you can do about it. It also means that peace between me and my country is shaky at best, too. 🤷🏼‍♀️ What‘s a girl to do?

Chrissyreadit Do you recommend this book? Your posts resonate with me. 6y
GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit my main complaints about the book are more academic (she perpetuates the idea that the Celts never wrote anything down), but again this was written 20 years ago, so the academia certainly would have advanced and the scope of the book is the spiritual side. At the end of the day, for anyone interested in Celtic spirituality, or just nature spirituality in general, I would highly recommend this book. 6y
GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit it is completely devoid of the new age, Druid BS that people love to do these days. That stuff is entirely modern, completely inaccurate, and almost entirely made up. It‘s mostly Wiccan with a Celtic twist. Just for the accuracy of the spirituality I recommend this book. 6y
Chrissyreadit @GingerAntics thanks for your response! What kind of work do you do? 6y
GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit I work as tutor (although we‘re being called facilitators now) and an instructor at a local junior/community college. I‘m trained as a historian, though. I‘m always keeping an eye out for a professorship or something else in my field. 6y

Twelfth Night | William Shakespeare
post image

Twelfth Night was written just months after my favourite #Shakespeare play, Hamlet, and both seem to be ways he dealt with his grief. Interesting also that Twelfth Night has twins that are separated, when Shakespeare‘s own twins had recently been separated. I do love when these connections happen!!! #twelfthnight #thingstothinkabout #shakespearereadalong

Faibka How interesting! I just realized how little I know about Shakespeare‘s life :( 6y
GingerAntics @Faibka Greenblatt has a biography of Shakespeare called “Will in the World.” We can add it to our Greenblatt read-along. lol 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics lol, sounds good to me! Added it to my reading list 6y

GingerAntics @Faibka sadly, my library doesn‘t have that one either. I‘ll have to buy them all in one fell swoop so we can do this thing with all the Greenblatt books. lol 6y
batsy I don't know much about Shakespeare's life either and would love to join a Will in the World readalong whenever we can get to it :) @Faibka 6y
GingerAntics @Faibka @batsy oh our group is growing!!! I‘ve seen a few documentaries, but a great little resource is 6y
batsy Ooh, nice! Thanks. I'll be on the lookout for that. 6y
Faibka @batsy @GingerAntics wonderful! welcome :) 🙌 I‘ve already ordered Hamlet in Purgatory and will see if I can get Will in the World. I‘ll check the introduction one. It‘s going to be a Shakespearean year! ;) 6y
GingerAntics @batsy @Faibka I‘ve always had to order those Very Short Introductions (it‘s a series done by Oxford University that has more than a hundred volumes on just about anything you can imagine) online. I don‘t often see them in stores, but you may have some luck. I will see them occasionally in a Half Price Books. The Very Short Intros are less than 150 pages usually, so they‘re great places to get started. 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics great! I‘ll try the local independent bookstore in the weekend and see what I can find :) 6y
Gezemice @GingerAntics My library has interlibrary loans, I got several books they did not have that way. Maybe yours does, too! 6y
GingerAntics @Gezemice the library at work does that, but very few libraries carry them in this state for some reason, and interlibrary loan is limited to the state (for obvious reasons). Having to go to amazon isn‘t bad. I‘ve had to have books imported from Scotland in the past, so Amazon doesn‘t seem so far anymore. lol (edited) 6y
readinginthedark Fascinating! 6y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark right? I totally changes how you look at the play, knowing it was written when he was dealing with the loss of one of his own twins. I don‘t remember if I posted the part about this playing being performed for the first time on his twins‘ 17th Birthday, so the reunion in this play was a reunion of his own twins for the 17th birthday she would celebrate without him. It gave me the chills and almost made me cry. 6y
readinginthedark You did post that (but I only remember 'cause I'm just now catching up for the week). Such a beautiful memorial! 6y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark that‘s cool. It seems it was everyone‘s first week back at work after the holidays. I saw it just after I posted that. Oops. Oh well. It is a great little memorial. It makes me want to read and love this play even more. I did see something that claimed this was the past comedy he wrote, too. I‘m not sure if that‘s true or not. 6y
readinginthedark Yeah, I need a better timeline of the plays to reference. Maybe I'll make one while we read this play. 6y
