Mehso-so

Continuing my tradition to read anything on the American Library Association yearly Top 10 Challenged Book List that I haven't yet read.
7️⃣ - Banned and challenged because it was considered sexually explicit and degrading to women.

For me it was just meh. Teenage Boy Humor. Which is what teenage boys do. They're not exactly know for their empathy and intelligence.

Crinoline_Laphroaig This was a good quote:
“Just because something is weird and hard to understand doesn‘t mean it‘s creative."

I have to admit part of why I celebrate #BannedBooksWeek is that it makes me feel like a Rebellious Teenager again sneaking books past my mother.

But having grown up in home that thought the only thing you needed to read was the Bible and religious literature I know the importance of Books to open your mind to new ideas and other people's stories.

GingerAntics It breaks my heart to think of all the great literature kids miss in homes like these. Ugh. I‘m so glad you snuck other books. 3y

Book 9 of Top10 Challenged Books. Well written. Because of that the ugly and sad parts really hit you. I always have trouble with Rating books like this. It's a classic and important read. But while I was intrigued to see how it was going to end, it was a hard read. So now I can say I've read it and it's doubtful I will ever read again.

Read this earlier in year as part of my Challenge to read anything on the @AmericanLibraryAssociation Top 10 Challenged List for 2019 that I hadn't read.
I just adored it. 🥰

Even with the Staycation Work on the House Project, I still managed to keep up with my Challenges and read a few others. 📚

"once we get to know individuals who may be different from ourselves, it is less likely we will be wary of them."
And with that I finish my Challenge of reading anything I hadn't read on this year‘s @AmericanLibraryAssociation List. ✊

Much like these Rebel Spider Lilies who jumped the fence; I don't like being told what to do. So I'm always excited for Banned Books Week. Celebrate The Freedom to Read Sep 27 - Oct 3. I'll be rereading my favorite #3 and finishing up my #top10challengedbooks by reading #2 Beyond Magenta. ✊

Some serious reads this summer. Books that made me think about Race and Identity. Passing, How To Talk, & Flamingo all excellent.

#MyNameIsAlexanderHamiltonReadAlong taught me history. #BooksandBrewsClub choose some big books: Hated Pillars. Loved rereading Gentleman.

Kept up with #top10challengedbooks & revisited The Pink Motel for old time sake. Mum - because mine too.
