Pickpick

#UnpopularOpinion A pick, but barely. I figured out the main twist early on. I didn‘t find this spooky or particularly suspenseful. #underwhelmed. 2/5👻s

Although the writing flowed nicely, I really didn‘t find a story here. Life in an orchard over seasons and years. There were characters that had potentially interesting storylines, but the stories just never happened or fizzled out.

I‘ve been doing most of my reading via audiobook or a few pages here and there of a print book. I actually took the time to pretty much read this straight through. #underwhelmed 2/5🍎s

Bklover I was underwhelmed as well! 5y

I found this Booker long listed crime novel not particularly inspiring and am confused as to how it made the list. It is not a bad book - solid 3⭐️ - but it‘s also not a great book. Overall, I found it a pretty typical crime novel without any overarching themes to distinguish it from others of the genre. The book may suffer from high expectations set by its inclusion in the long list. Available on Hoopla.

DGRachel Considering how I felt about Warlight, maybe we shouldn‘t have high expectations for this year‘s Man Booker Prize nominees...🤔 #underwhelmed 6y
Redwritinghood @DGRachel This is the first one from the list I‘ve read, so I‘m still hopeful. I‘ll be starting others this weekend. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 6y
AceOnRoam Yes, some others on the list look really great. This one is an enigma 🤔 6y

BarbaraBB Let‘s hope it is an enigma 🤞 6y
ns510reads Eep not sure how excited I am about this one. I do like a good thriller so I‘m keeping an open mind. A bit puzzled about the Booker inclusion though. It has to be an exceptional book all around, and not just for the sake of genre! 6y
Redwritinghood @ns510reads My issue is that, even for the genre, it is pretty average. Maybe it will resonate with you more than me - I don‘t read a lot of crime fiction. 6y
Cinfhen Just started this book and I was convinced I must be reading the wrong book~ so far it‘s below average in both writing & plot😜 6y
Redwritinghood @Cinfhen Yes, it‘s a bit of mystery to me how this one is on the list. 6y

I've been annotating my 4th read of the year in preparation for a blog and I have some harsh criticism. Less than 100 pages in finds me sorely disappointed in THRONE OF GLASS. Here's hoping it picks up. #throneofglass #worstassassinever #readingchallenge2017 #underwhelmed

Books4brittany The first two books suuuuuck. The 3rd one though 🙌🏻👌🏻 8y
msm8 @Books4brittany Good to know!! I'll try my best to stick it out but maaannn it's rough haha 8y
Books4brittany Ha I know. There is no number high enough to count the number of eye rolls from these first two books 😉 8y

msm8 @Books4brittany For real, though. I've had to stop several times because I get tired of groaning out loud. You've given me hope for the 3rd one, though! 😊 8y
Books4brittany Honestly, I'd just skip the first two and do cliff notes instead. Those two books were so.so.bad. Cocky and arrogant with no skill to back it up. Sheesh. 😳 I genuinely think she hired someone to write the rest 😂 8y
msm8 Ugh, you're not kidding about her being arrogant. I teach 16 year-olds with a higher level of maturity and common sense. I may go the route of cliff notes after all 😏 8y
