Whelp. I can officially say I'm not a Whitehead fan. This one had a couple pitfalls That I really couldn't stand. It's set in a 3 day timeframe but Colson jumps randomly to times before with flashbacks and memories. It makes it difficult to decipher what's happening now and what already happened in many cases. He goes way off topic which was extremely annoying. Also, no ending. Not a fan, but I've read worse. #startswithZ #litsyreadingchallenge

Starting this one today. Looks like the reviews are lacking. I wasn't a fan of his Underground Railroad so I don't have high hopes for this one either. We shall see.

The third installment of this series did not enthrall me as much as the first two. I was bored for the first 2/3 of the book while Mare was a captive. It did, however, make me hate the bad guys a little less and the good guys a little more. Oh, and there was a surprise lesbian relationship reveal. Overall, OK. Hopefully the next book will make up for the disappointment.

Such a good book! It sucked me in and wouldn't let me go right up until the last page. I'm so sad to see it end and had hoped to see a certain storyline play out, but alas, we'll never know. The ending was definitely not an ending. Pretty much NO ONE's story concluded. I'm confused that this is supposed to be the last book but leaves off on huge cliffhangers. But still...I loved it. And I did do some hardcore crying in this one. #morethan400pages

RealLifeReading I've just requested the first book in this series! 8y
Books4brittany It's a great series! It lags a little toward the end when Dani's perspective takes over, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the others. 8y

There were a few little things that irked me, such as every one of the rebels having this sarcastic attitude. I like a little diversity in my characters. But, it was a refreshingly new world, and I overall enjoyed the ride. Quite certain I know what the big surprise will be in the finale, but we shall see. Holy crap, guys. This book 😍. Set in WWII, occupied France. The story of two women, one a mother trying to protect her daughter and survive the war, the other a spy and political activist. A little action, a little romance, and a lot of awesomeness. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #litsyreadingchallenge #basedonahistoricalevent

I wanted to like it. I really, really wanted to. But I like my fiction in history to be more plausible. There seems to be no time period this book was set in, as it was 1860-1940s from the events, but written as all happening simultaneously. I get this author writes more fictionalized stories, but I really like mine to be a little more accurate. Overall, I guess it was OK, although I'll never understand why it won an award. 😕

Alright y'all. I've finally completed this 700 page monstrosity . Yes, it's huge. Yes, there are a great many different characters. But I loved it. The tale of two different bloodlines over the course of 300 years, the reader experiences a great many lives. This book is riddled with deeper meanings and I found them all compelling. Rooted in despoliation and Native American cultural destruction, it ends up in the America we know today. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's kind of hard to describe my love hate relationship with this book. The suspense was good, but the main character was so damn annoying in her wishy washy needy alcoholic tendencies and her stupid mistakes that she made all.the.way.through 😒 if the character wasn't so damn annoying I would have loved this book, but the entire time I just wanted to reach into the pages and punch her for her stupidity.

A wonderful tale. I honestly don't even know how to describe it. A fantastic story of the life of a woman, from rags to courtesan to slave to fame. A tale of love and hardships, of finding freedom and being used. This was one hell of a wild ride, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is written masterfully. 4.5/5 stars.

Inhuman | Kat Falls

My pick for #underhypedbook is Inhuman by Kat Falls (and her other series as well). Perfect for The younger YA dystopian fans, and those not abhorred by love triangles. Very much a fantasy, where a mutation turns the majority of the population into half-animals who eventually go full feral, and the untouched population live in small communities behind big walls. A 16 year old girl is forced beyond the walls and finds adventure❤️👍 #augustofpages

This book surprised me. I'm not usually into this type of story, but I couldn't put it down. As I said before, I really fell in love with the main character's wit and cynicism after just 11 pages. 5/5 stars from me.

It's hard to narrow down my favorite female character from the greats, such as Hermione, Arya, and Katniss, but this one surprised me, so I thought I'd add a less popular character. I loved Hazel, who was cynical and surprising. I didn't think I was going to like this book, but I fell in love with her after just 11 pages. #loveatfirstread #augustphotochallenge #augustofpages #favefemalecharacter

Well that was a major disappointment. I thought it might be when I learned that it's a script and not a novel, and my fears turned out true. Due to it being a script it was very superficial. I miss the detail and the emotion. The story itself was a good one, it just could have been so much better. Also, Ron was made out to be a dumbass as a man, and that kind of irked me.

I listened to this on audiobook, and I can attest that the book on audio is fantastic. She talks about life, love, sex, divorce, drugs, and everything in between. I laughed so hard I snorted at times, and even cried once when a piece hit a little too close to home. So many gems of wisdom with comedic relief strewn about. There were some bits that I didn't find interesting (on set of her various shows) but the rest was worth it. Good for women.
