Happy Women in Translation month! The tagged book is one of my favorite translated works and the other is next on my TBR. Both are surreal, unsettling short story collections and also feminist as fuck. #witmonth #weirdatlast
This tiny, weird book is about the narrator's burgeoning queer identity. It's strangely erotic, though it's heavy on the body..not quite horror, but body weirdness. It's all shifting boundaries and growth and decay. #weirdatlast
I may have shrieked and pushed my boyfriend when I saw this on the shelf at my local comic shop. Emily Carroll is everything. #weird #weirdatlast
(Chapbook isn't in the database, so I went with my fave.)
This is the first Tournament I've had to rely mostly on book buzz to fill in my brackets, but it's kept them going so far! I'm most excited that Fever Dream is advancing.
In this spate of upsets, who do you think will win?

This book took me 2 months to read. I already loved Jackson's work, but I lived in this lovely book with her for so long, I don't know what to do without her.
Thorough, intersectional, it really conveyed her depth within the context of her family and professional life. Could've used less info about her husband's (seemingly tedious) work, but overall great. #weirdatlast
My backyard is full of crows and I'm officially a witch. Good background noise for this book, as Shirley Jackson also claimed to be a witch in some of her author bios. #weirdatlast
I went into the library last week not intending to check anything out, but found this. Twists on fairy tales, feminist AF, published by a small press. It basically flew off the shelf and hit me in the face. And it was great! My favorite was a fresh take on the wicked stepmother trope. #weirdatlast
Since I'm dedicating the rest of the year to catching up on comics, I can say that these were my #bestof2017 . Mostly weird, mostly short stories. #weirdatlast
