❤️ A middle-grade novel so whimsically delightful and insightful and earnest and encouraging I want to hug the author in gratitude. And the writing is just so good! I have six pages of quotes copied out - I found myself wanting to walk around saying "Listen to this sentence!" #wordnerd My only regret is that I borrowed it from the library and have to give it back. #ashleerecommends

This has delighted me both times I've read it; short and sweet with a feel-good message. Perfect for fans of L. M. Montgomery or Frances Hodgkin Burnett. #jfic #juniorfiction #fairytale

So far I'm pretty underwhelmed with this. I don't like how much I, as a reader, am left in the dark about people and organizations and overall plot points. I'm having a hard time getting invested in Sefina and I find many passages describing actions or surroundings hard to follow - they seem disjointed or incomplete; overall it just feels messy and haphazard.

Mind-numbing and preposterous. It was pretty bad from the get-go but she really lost me at "totes amazeballs." I suspect she hasn't had a conversation with an actual teenager in decades.

This was a surprising delight. I read it straight through in one night and I now have a very urgent need to visit the Isle of Skye.

Finally getting around to reading this. So far I'm diggin' it - but I'm having a love/hate relationship with the chapter lengths. I appreciate how short they are because it moves you through the book quickly and makes it easy to pick up the book for a few minutes here and there when you get a chance - but it's also getting in the way of me getting REALLY engrossed and immersed in the story.

I loved the writing. It drug on a bit towards the end, but otherwise I was completely drawn in by this book. The exploration of grief, the (quasi) biography of TH White, the falconry and ode to nature - I don't know how she managed to weave it all together so brilliantly, but it totally worked. #memoir

The story is pretty good but the writing and plotting are wrong for the intended audience. I found myself skimming pretty heavily to get past a lot of the descriptive passages and I'm not sure many young readers will be able to get through it. #jfic #juniorfiction #fantasy

Loved it. The exploration of feminine power was beautiful. The language was poetic and engrossing. It read like historical fiction with mysticism rather than a fantasy novel. Very unique. #YA #fantasy

Totally engrossed in this. The writing is exquisite - like a spell - such a captivating narrator.
