My #doublespin done too! This was middle grade and pretty whimsical. An interesting story that tackles self love and friendship. I liked it! #bookspinbingo

It‘s been too long Litsy! Today is the first day I‘ve had truly free of anything to do. So I‘m lounging on the couch with my animals and reading. I plan to finish both my bookspin and double spin and hopefully an extra book too! 😁
I grabbed this one day simply for the cover. I‘ve since seen good reviews so fingers crossed! I hope to get to it soon!
I‘m trying to reacquaint myself with my TBR while on a book buying ban for the month.

Interesting read so far. It's weird, yet fun and quirky. The MC kind of bugs me but I have to remember that she's only 12 and her actions make sense in that regard. 💐
I am just not feeling it. The language was aunts some beautiful pictures but not.
I love this author. She has such a way with words! In this novel, she paints beautiful pictures of fantastical places in a novel which is reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland and A Wrinkle in Time. In this book, Alice stands out in her colorful community because is has no color.
A fun, fantastical, lyrical middle-grade read.

My friends and Ihave argued if this is really a cover change. I say yes. The only similar thing is the font used for the authors name.

I‘m giving this a Pick because I think I would have loved it at a kid. It was really quirky and fun, but a little too much so for adult me. I‘m definitely going to be adding it to the list of books I push at school.
Despite the paper copy in the picture, this was 100% and #audiobook read for me and I liked the narrator. #audiocrochet
Last week was a wash with all the rain and snow so I only got 1 audiobook finished towards my goal. Today we got a break so we took advantage and went to walk the beach and found some geocaches along the way. I got chased by an eagle so I even got some running in 😂😂
Movies, jammies and laziness for the rest of the night!

1. I don't read a lot of funny books but this one was cute and made me giggle
2. I'm off work, it's Friday and a long weekend. Best part of the whole week!

I‘m not sure about this one yet, but it is pretty...
I love Mafi‘s writing in general, so I was excited about this one. It was middle grade, which is not always a favorite of mine, and sort of a fairy tale. Overall I felt it delivered almost exactly what I expected.
Read this with my 12yo, and it was a delight. The main character isn‘t your typical middle grade good little girl. We loved her more for all her faults, and the story was pretty original. This was my first time to listen to Bronson Pinchot narrate. I know he‘s thought of highly, and his normal voice is nice, but when the female character spoke he was so soft and whispery it was hard to hear. 👍🏻 book 👎🏻 narration
This book took me forever to read because something about it didnt sit right. I dont know if it was the fact it was really dark for a middle grade book or what. What did you guys think? Help me flush it out!!!🤓☹
“She decided long ago that life was a long journey. She would be strong, and she would be weak, and both would be okay.”
Starting this today because sometimes you just need to get lost like a kid.
This pretty much sums up everything on my TBR/Netflix queue/DVR. I‘m convinced that I‘ll love all of it, even if I never actually get to it. This book reminded me of a mashup of “Alice‘s Adventures in Wonderland”, “The Phantom Tollbooth”, and “Haroun and the Sea of Stories”. I almost burst into tears at the end when the meaning of the card she received at the Surrender was revealed. I‘m hoping to get to book 2 in the series sometime this month.
I love the way Tahereh Mafi uses the words and makes everything she writes sound as if you read a poem instead of prose. I knew what to expect as I read Witchwood before Furthemore but still enjoyed it thoroughly. The way the characters develop is beautiful to follow. I hope that there will be another book in this series in the future!
Tahereh Mafi is now one of my favorites! I just recently finished book 4 of the Shatter Me series and I'm hooked. Cant wait to start this one 🤗
In a magical and whimsical world where everyone and everything is steeped in vivid colours and #magic , one 12-yr old ‘colourless‘ girl stands out. She goes on a fairy tale-like adventure in search of her missing father, and with her bravery and wit, she does not back down till her quest succeeds.

I picked this up solely based on the fantastic cover. It was an enjoyable read (even if it was pretentious in spots). Alice and Oliver were compelling characters.
“I hope my friends didn‘t frighten you too much. Some people find those pantsuits extremely intimidating.”
DYING 🤣🤣🤣
This book makes me want to re-read The Phantom Tollbooth. I may just have to.

“It was a silly thing to do, talking to butterflies; falling in love was their favorite way to pass the time.” I‘m enjoying this world so very much, it‘s just the balm my heart needs right now. 💜 Fan art of Alice by Victoria Ying: https://instagram.com/p/BN9_ZTkjwbE/
“Unsocked feet,” “a single pair of days away,” “catching deep breaths and holding them, too selfish to let them go” — what an absolutely striking way Mafi has with words. I‘m loving this already and I‘m just a few minutes in.
Read for you by Bronson Pinchot?? I may need to do the Dance of Joy. 😏
I'm really enjoying the curious nature of this audio book. The narrator is AMAZING, and the whole thing feels like reading 'Alice in Wonderland' again for the first time.
Just picked these up the other day. Has anyone read them? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
Oh!! I wasn‘t prepared for this book! It‘s charming, it‘s witty, it‘s just right. @lrh9 picked this for her #lmpbc read and I loved it! The ending might have been a smidge too quick, but that isn‘t really a negative. 😊 I will be buying a copy for my daughter! I loved Alice! Lillian, I‘m sorry I didn‘t mark up your book very much! I was thoroughly enjoying turning the pages as fast as I could!! 😄😄😄
@JenP words cannot express how perfect the #cupidgoespostalkids package is that you and your little Litten put together. My daughter stayed up until midnight to open this (while I was fast asleep) and said she actually squealed when she unwrapped it all. Everything is a perfect reflection of the things she loves most. That personalized water bottle!! And she has a Pez collection! And she‘s not read any of those books. All if it-thank you! 💕💕
And then there is my secret library book drawer - don‘t tell! #riotgrams #shelfie
3.5 ⭐️
I‘ve loved this author before, so I was really looking forward to this book. I liked the story itself, the plot and the world that Alice and Oliver live in. What made it difficult for me to rate it any higher was that the beginning was too long of a backstory to be able to get into, and the ending was quick and left me wanting more. If they switched the lengths, I would have liked it much more. Interested to see how the 2nd book plays out.
Pretty good but very confusing at points! I did enjoy reading this though! 4/5
After a semi-exhausting week and putting my crazy energetic daughter to bed on this Friday evening, I‘m excited to relax and read my book! #tgif #restmaybe #fantasyfiction #fridaynightcouchpotato
Oh my goodness, what a delightful little fairytale!
I just adore Alice and Oliver. I loved the way Mafi addresses poverty, inequality, and prejudice.
Such a beautifully told story. So excited for the sequel.
My friends and I decided to have a mini-book club, very casual and not demanding we finish on a timeline. It helps with our busy schedules- and this one my friend found on #bookoutlet and I love the cover!! I‘ve read her Shatter Me series and so I‘m interested to see how this one goes!!
When twelve year old Alice's father goes missing her family is at a loss. Life is hard as a colorless girl in Furthermore - a world full of color. Insert the quirky Oliver and an adventure to find her father awaits. I loved this middle grade novel. It reads quickly, builds multiple fascinating and unique worlds, and made me laugh and tear up a little.
"Love, it turned out, could both hurt and heal."
I always find that middle grade novels have the most beautiful and true sentences hidden in them. This one snuck up on me and there were tears.
When you have a couple of cocktails, go to bed like you're going to sleep forever, and then wake up at three am still drunk but not tired.
Well shit.
