Eileen: A Novel | Ottessa Moshfegh

Mehso-so

I find Moshfegh so hit and miss and was leaning towards miss and nearly an unfinish for this one. But there is one sucker punch of a moment that was pretty great. Overall though I was just left feeling a bit meh. It would be great to see Moshfegh try something out of the “wickedly dark endearing female who is still also very beautiful” genre #eileen #otessamoshfegh #drama #literaryfiction

Pickpick

This is a book you can devour in one sitting. And how can one tiny book pack so much emotion, depth and gut wrenching drama into so little pages? An absolute mastery of novel writing, Claire Keegan has told a generational trauma in only few words. Incredible #clairekeegan #smallthingslikethese #novel #literaryfiction

Pickpick

I am new to this app but I don‘t see near enough love for Tiffany McDaniel and the incredible novel Betty. Based on her own family it tells the story of a half Native American girl, Betty, coming of age in ‘50s America. My god, this book is BREATHTAKING. Do not miss this book! #tiffanymcdaniel #betty #literaryfiction #top5books #mustread

The Women: A Novel | Kristin Hannah

Pickpick

The first third of this book, I wasn‘t convinced. I felt it was trying to ram too many “stating the obvious” lines of prose in there and didn‘t give the reader room to explore. But about halfway it takes such a deep, human experience to a new level and has a profound and meaningful purpose. Although not as strong as The Nightingales, this is still a story that deserves to be told and a great read.
