This book was an ARC from NetGalley. What an emotional roller coaster. It is easy to become invested in the characters who struggle for their lives in the context of loss. Well done! #netgalley

American Spy: A Novel | Lauren Wilkinson

This novel is about a brilliant black female FBI agent who finds herself tricked into working for people with a hidden objective. The decisions she later makes cause her to fear for her safety for the rest of her life. Although this story held so much promise, it fell short for me- scenarios that didn‘t quite add up for the protagonist. The narration by Bahni Turpin was stellar, as always.I will continue to select any and every book she narrates!

This was an awesome novel set in Iraq and revolves around friendship, betrayal, loyalty, and risking to all to do what is right. It left me longing for more with these strong female characters! #netgalley

This author has me rethinking the #nonfiction genre. This was about the eccentric and gregarious Winston Churchill and his leadership during WWII. A long book but a great read!

melissajayne The Devil in the White City is also really good. 4y

Miracle Creek is a story about a tangled web of lies fueled by shame and guilt, which leads to deadly destruction and heartbreak. I enjoyed it but it wasn‘t my favorite. Maybe 3.5/5 stars.

Free ARC review. This novel is not for the faint of heart. Almost the entire story is told through listening in on the inner monologue of Crystal, the main character. It is clear that this woman has been pushed to the psychological breaking point after repeated severe emotional and physical trauma. In the end Crystal is at peace with her decisions, and through her nightmarish choices her own nightmares have quieted.

This was another fun crime novel by Harlan Coben! Not too heady or layered, but fast paced and fun. Now on to some Coben on Netflix! #crimenovel

Open Book | Jessica Simpson
Mehso-so

This autobiography was chock full of celebrity dish! I found it a little preachy and hard to relate to, unlike my expectation of Jessica Simpson based on what little I “know” of her. She is clearly way more intelligent than I gave her credit for and created an easy to read, engaging memoir.

I really enjoyed the third installment of Louise Penny‘s Inspector Gamache series. I have listened to the first three on audio and can‘t wait for the next! Witty writing, lovable quirky characters, and suspense. I can‘t decide if I will listen to the next or try an ebook version...🤔🤔
