I absolutely loved this book! Then again, I have a soft spot for grumpy old men, and Ove is definitely that! He's honest, straightforward, and he just wants people to follow the rules. Read the signs! Is that too much to ask? I listened to the audio version, which was excellent, and I plan to get a printed copy for my shelf.

AWahle The movie was really good as well! 7y

This book had been on my TBR list for quite some time (ahem, years, actually.) I finally got around to reading it for a challenge, as a book set in my home state. It's about a girl who, at age seven, is torn from her family and sent to Kalaupapa, the leper colony on Moloka'i. There, along with the other outcasts, she makes a life. The book also touches on a lot of Hawaiian history. I loved it!

I wasn't expecting much from this book, mostly because I was fine with the Harry Potter series being finished. So I was pleased to find myself eager to go on with it.

I'm only on page two, and I'm already loving this book!

I've been binge listening to this wonderful character driven science fiction series lately...for about the sixth time. The printed versions are great, but for me, Grover Gardner is *the* voice of Miles Naismith Vorkosigan. This book is a great place to jump into the series.

I'm using All Things Cease to Appear for my free square. I think I'm getting used to the lack of quotation marks.

Great book! The audio version is narrated by Will Patton, and he is excellent. I really enjoyed the poetic descriptions Maggie Stiefvater used "He was handsome in a way that required a bit of work from the viewer." I will definitely continue with this series.

Just got my Books on the Nightstand Bingo card!

LauraLeah I printed mine out on Friday. Excited! 8y
Lindy @Elizasam Will you use Raven Boys for the series square or the magic square? 8y
Elizasam @Lindy actually. I was thinking of using it for the animal on the cover or in the title square. However, I'm still planning my bingo strategy, so I'll make my final decision when I'm done with the book. 8y
Elizasam @Lindy I tried to tag you earlier. Now I've figured it out. I'm still not sure which square I'll use for Raven Boys. :) 8y
Lindy @Elizasam Who knew that bingo strategy could be a part of our reading lives! 😀 8y

I enjoyed this. I don't know what to say about it without spoiling it. I will say don't read it if you need to have likable characters in your fiction, there are none in this book!

Stayed up way too late last night, finishing this. I really liked it. Some people have complained that it's written from too many POVs. I think it was a good way to demonstrate how catastrophic events affect individuals differently. I did bookmark the character list :).

What a great read! Secrets and suspense without much gore, I had a hard time putting it down.

Just finished reading this today. It is a look at the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII on a personal level. Although the characters are not complicated, I liked the way Jamie Ford depicted the various relationships.
