Tea & Comfort | Andrea Hurst

This is a very cosy and sweet book. It was interesting particularly as it reached the point I expected to be the end about a third of the way through and kept going!

This book is absolutely amazing. Heart rending at times, but wonderful.

I quite enjoyed this book but it didn't properly grab me. None of the characters quite had enough for me to really invest in them. But it was a really interesting concept and that kept me going!

“Feelings don‘t try to kill you, even the painful ones. Anxiety is a feeling grown too large. A feeling grown aggressive and dangerous. You‘re responsible for its consequences, you‘re responsible for treating it. But... you‘re not responsible for causing it. You‘re not morally at fault for it. No more than you would be for a tumour.”

I saw this book coming up repeatedly on my feed and couldn't ignore it with a title like this! I really enjoyed reading it and felt I learned a lot from the cultural context of the book.

This was such a fascinating book on so many levels. Definitely one of those I didn't want to put down and that really got me thinking about history, society and human nature.

On the whole I really enjoyed this book. I thought the pace was a bit fast towards the end, but still enjoyable. I like the mix of reality and magic in this book. It's a comforting snuggly book.

Héloïse has always been drawn to used books far more than new ones. She loves to hold them and wonder who else has done so; she‘s excited to find notes in the margins or pages folded over, showing that someone has loved this particular moment of the story especially.

This book was really absorbing and thought provoking but accessible. It is fascinating, sad, and inspiring as an illustration of what people will do for their loved ones.
