It‘s 2am and I don‘t have the words to accurately describe what this book has done to me. I was filled with rage, my heart broke, my eyes welled, my teeth gnashed, and I was struck speechless by the beautiful prose. Good books don‘t always make you feel good but they should show you something important.

This is the most challenging book I‘ve read in some time. Mitchell‘s mastery of different genres is something to witness. Definitely worth the work. But now I need a brain break.

This was delightful, which may be weird to say about a story that centers around a serial killer. I was routing for Maud though! Which I think is the mark of a very good story and writer. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed these snippets of the characters lives no matter how long or short of a time I got to spend with them

I got pretty into this story. While some of the characters, I felt, deserved to be flushed out more, specifically the female ones, there were some I really loved. I‘m also a big fan of the villain. For a while I was terrified anytime I was in public and someone began to cough.

Mehso-so

Malala's story is amazing and the parts of this book that were about her and her family were the high points. The other parts about the history and political climate of Pakistan, while necessary, were kind of jarring. I don't felt like they gelled well together.
