Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix is a SSYRA winner and a great NF which would make a wonderful LC. This book is about Jonah, his sister Katherine, and their best friend Chip. Jonah and Katherine were both adopted and Jonah decides find out about his past. When they start investigating, Jonah and Chip reveal much more than they wanted too and end up on this journey through time. EL 2, promote cooperation (small groups)

My Dog Does My Homework is a poetry book that contains poems by Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, and many more. This book would be great for partnered reading as it has a variety of humorous, fun poems to read. I think this book would be a great addition to any classroom. EL 16, Integrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities.

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate is a F that won a Newbery Medal and would be great for a RA. This book is about a gorilla named Ivan who was taken away from his family in the jungle when he was a baby. He spent most of his life in captivity in a circus. When a baby elephant arrives, Ruby, she changes his point of view and Ivan now has a goal to get Ruby and him out of their current house and into a zoo.

The Man Who Walked Between the Towers by Mordicai Gerstein is a wonderful HF that won a Caldecott Medal and would make a great RA. This book is about a man who is a type rope walker and plans to walk across the twin towers on a type rope. The plan is executed and they spend all night setting up the type rope. When morning comes, the city stop and stares at the man on the type rope between the twin towers.

The Boy on Fairfield Street by Kathleen Krull is a B and would be great for AS. This book is a wonderful biography of Dr. Seuss. This would make a great addition to any classroom library. I believe students would enjoy this book since many love reading Dr. Suess. EL 9, teach note taking strategies:t-line, timeline, etc and UDL 7.2, optimize relevance, value, and authenticity would go great with this book.

What Was the Titanic by Stephanie Sabol is a NF and would be a great LC. This book tells the story of the Titanic and how it sunk. It also provides photos of the ship, diagrams, and a timeline of the sinking of ship. This book is great for any classroom library as it goes into great detail and depth about the Titanic. This book is also really engaging due to having numerous of visuals, vocabulary, and information on important people.

The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend written by Dan Santat won a Caldecott Medal and is a F. This book is about an imaginary friend named Beekle, waiting to become a friend with a human. Beekle gets tired of waiting so he journeys by himself to the real world to find a friend. After a long time of searching he finally finds his human friend. This book will be a great GR. UDL 7.1, optimize individual choice and autonomy.

When Sophie Gets Angry-Really, Really Angry... written by Molly Bang is a RF won a Caldecott Honor award. This book would make a great PR. This book is about Sophie and what she does to cope with her anger. I think this book would be a great addition to any teacher‘s collection as it shows ways to cope with emotions.

On My Honor by Marion Dane Bauer is a great RF and won a Newbery Honor award and would be a great IR. This books is about two boys who are close friends, who decided to bike to a state park to climb rocks despite it being dangerous. On the way to the state park, the boys stop at a river and gets a crazy idea to go swimming in it, even though their parents have warned them numerous of times about rivers being dangerous.

JayaJ This book shows the uncensored truth of what can potentially happen when you do not listen to parents. UDL 2.3, support deciding if text, mathematical notation, and symbols and EL 1, teach questioning for clarification would go great with this book. The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963 written by Christopher Paul Curtis is a wonderful HF that has won the Coretta Scott King award. This novel would make a great RA as it is about a family, older brother Bryon, middle child Kenny, younger sister Joetta, and their parents who lives in Flint, Michigan in 1963. The story is told through Kenny who is nine years old.

JayaJ The Watsons decide to take a trip south to Birmingham, Alabama due to Bryons rebellious behavior getting out of hand. While in Birmingham, the Watsons faces serious fatal scares and challenges which changes them forever. This book would be go great with EL 7, show students how to use graphic organizers like semantic mapping and imaging. And UDL 4.1, vary methods for response and navigation. 6y

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs written by Jon Scieszka and illustrated by Lane Smith, won a Young Readers Choice award. This TL book would be a great RA. This book is the story of the Three Little Pigs but is told from the wolf‘s perspective. Throughout the story the reader gets to view the innocence of the wolf, and discovers how different his side of the story is compared to the Three Little Pigs told from the Pigs perspectives.

Corduroy written and illustrated by Don Freeman, won a Young Readers Choice award. This F book would make a good IR. This book is about a teddy bear who lives on a shelf in a department store. One day, it is brought to Corduroys attention that he is missing a button on his overalls. He then roams the department store in hopes of finding the missing button. EL 31, write instructions and problems using shorter and less complex sentences.

This book is about an old women named Strega Nona, who is known for her magical powers. Strega Nona owns a magic pot that can cook pasta on its own. When she leaves town for a short while, the pot gets into the wrong hands and the town and it‘s people is faced with a problem.

This book is about a boy named Max, who is misbehaving gets sent up to his room and ends up going where these creatures called the wild things, are. During his time with the wild things, Max becomes king of the wild things. After having his fun with the creatures, Max starts to miss his mom and leaves the island.

The novel Wonder, written by R.J. Palacio is a New York Times Bestseller. This RF would make a great book for guided reading. This book is about a kid named August who is born with a facial deformity and has never attended school before due to his health. August‘s parents finally decides it is time for him to attend school when he starts 5th grade. In this book, we get to see the challenges August face in his first year attending a middle school.

This F book won an California‘s young reader award and would be a great GR book. This book is about a mouse who asks for a cookie. Then after eating the cookie the mouse would need a glass of milk and continues into a sequence of events. EL 6, continually monitor students‘ comprehension. This TL book is another Caldecott award book and would make for a great literature circle book. Rumpelstiltskin is about a poor miler‘s daughter, who‘s father claimed to the king that she can spin straw into gold. The king then challenged her to do so. She was able to complete the task with the help of Rumpelstiltskin, in exchange for some of her possessions. EL 42, have students use timelines to arrange and sequence important facts.

This F book won an E.B. White Read Aloud Award, and will be a wonderfully hilarious read aloud. This book is about a Siamese cat named Skippy Jon Jones. While in time out in his room, Skippy Jon Jones imagines himself to be a chihuahua and goes on this adventure through the desert of Mexico with other chihuahuas. EL 24, incorporate the culture and the language of second language learners in your curriculum.

Martin‘s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport is NF and a Caldecott award book. This biography of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a great addition to any classroom as it is very informative and fun at the same time. The book also provides a timeline of Dr. King‘s life as well as additional resources to learn more about Dr. King. This book would be a great read aloud. EL strategy 20, list the most important word and phrases you use on the board.
