Captivating narrative. Loved the reality of Lucy's perspective on motherhood and societal expectations. The analogy of relationships like different types of fire is 🔥. Trigger warning: 9/11 descriptions. (Audio)

The Unhoneymooners | Christina Lauren

My second Christina Lauren book. Authentic characters. The respective siblings of the bride and groom are forced to take an all-expenses-paid honeymoon posing as the newlyweds. Hilarity ensues. Will make you rethink the concept of "luck."

My first Backman novel but I'm hooked. Loved this heartwarming take of a curmudgeon and his pesky neighbors. Laughed out loud and got emotional while reading. (Audio)

Worth all the hype. Not interested in politics at all but loved all the "insider" details. Hearing it read by the author was magical. (Audio)

Well-written true crime novel that uses the right amount of detail. If you listen to this as an audiobook, be sure to get a copy of the book to reference the timeline, cast or characters, and maps/diagrams. Enjoyed the chapters most where the authors voice and perspective were shared. Appreciated the epilogue in the audio version on Libby. (Audio)

This book made me do some really hard introspection about the kind of parent I want to be vs. the parent I am today. Waffled between thinking everyone should parent like this and thinking "this is absolutely ridiculous! How could this ever work?" Making my co-parent read so we can discuss. Challenges our cultural norms regarding child rearing and schooling. (Audio)

Scrappy Little Nobody | Anna Kendrick

Could relate to author more since she's closer to my age than a lot of celeb memoir-writers. Not quite as much meat to this book as others I've read of late but still enjoyable. (Audio)

Wouldn't recommend the audio version because the book contains a map and family tree that I found very helpful to reference as I read. Don't read reviews or you'll encounter spoilers. Just read the book!

The Girl He Used to Know | Tracey Garvis Graves
Pickpick

This book had made me a more thoughtful human. Seeing the world through Annika's eyes developed a greater understanding of people on the autism spectrum. I don't want to spoil the plot so I won't say much else but I highly recommend this love story about second chances and courage.

Holy moly! I've been reading a lot of ya romance lately so I forgot how detailed adult romance novels can get. It was a good surprise. This sexy novel includes lovable characters and I finished it quickly. I'll definitely be picking up other books by the author duo.

Good conclusion to the Summer Series by Jenny Han. I liked the chapters from different perspectives and the realistic depiction of the strain in family relationships as kids begin to make independent decisions that parents don't support.

A must-read for parents! This book is loaded with research without feeling overly-academic. Full of antecdotes and book recommendations. Chapter 9 is a Q&A of how to implement reading aloud in your home TODAY and details the impact of a 3-month reading experiment on a middle-class family.
I dog-eared so many pages as aha! moments hit me while reading.

Super fast read. 4 short essays and a lot of neat book-loving images/cartoons/quotes.
Will resonate with readers. Could work great as a coffee table book if you are into that kind of book display. Recommend. Read in one sitting.
