🤩 can I have 24,000 extra pages of their relationship please?? It stinks that they spent more of the book apart than together, but I reeealllly liked them! Also 👏🏼 love reading about men who are kind, respectful, & serious about sex! Plus, lots of diverse characters! A win for me

I think I found an official Top 5 Books of 2023 entry. I haven't laughed so much during a book in ages, and Shay and Dominic's chemistry was off the CHARTS. The Platonic ideal of a contemporary romance. #contemporaryromance #romcom

My strong preference when on a plane is a rom com - the cheesier then better! Unfortunately there was not one today so I turned to this book. A slightly different take on fake dating trope with the 2 leads faking being exes to get a job. Light and quick to read it‘s a soft pick. I‘m also claiming it as a squint and it matches #pantone23

Another adorable winner from Solomon! I'm growing attached to her style and affinity for cool, unique settings for her romance plots (this one in an NPR-esque public radio station) 🎙

Cold, rainy day = perfect weather for staying indoors with books. This one's adorable so far! ?

PS: clearly I haven't gotten past the romance mood I'm in, which is ironic given the dumpster fire that is my dating life. Hence the new bookish sweatshirt that says "Booktrovert: A person who prefers the company of fictional characters to real people" ?

MoonWitch94 A friend asked me yesterday why I haven‘t started dating again (after a long-term relationship ended in 2021). I said “Because dating sucks and I have too many book boyfriends to read about.” 😂🤣😂🤣😂 We laughed….but I was halfway serious 😉 1y
JenReadsAlot @MoonWitch94 I got my heart broke September 2021 so can completely relate to this!! 1y
sarahbellum @swishandflick @moonwitch94 @JenReadsAlot I broke up with my longterm bf in Nov and every time I ask myself, “ready to date yet?” the answer is “why would I want to put myself through that again??” 😂🙄 1y

MoonWitch94 @Cpg I went through a very traumatic, awful break-up & I am enjoying being single right now. I feel similar to your daughter, but I think if I find someone who is worth it, the risk will be no big deal. 1y

This was a fun romance- enemies to lovers/ hidden relationship / on the job romance…. With NPR/Public Radio as the backdrop. And I figured that I had better show my #bookspinbingo board, as I somehow managed to finish both my #bookspin and #doublespin books today!

I really liked Shay and Dominic. Their relationship felt realistic, and I laughed out loud at some of the witty dialogue between them. The supporting characters were also well developed, and the author did a great job representing the ongoing grief of losing a loved one. Not your typical rom-com, this was an entertaining and engaging story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫After loving Solomon‘s Weather Girl, I was interested to see how her other books compared and wasn‘t disappointed! This is a fun romance with a public radio setting.I think the only thing that kept taking me out of it was that I thought I‘d relate to her main character, but it never hit an emotional place for me. And the final conflict was easy to see coming, so I was anticipating it the whole time.Highly recommend to all romance readers!

LoverOfLearning I bought this book for someone else but not myself! What a shame! HA I still want to read this. 2y

This was an impulse read from last month, and it was one I enjoyed. Loved the setting of public radio and trying to find a new angle to keep listeners. The tension of falling in love with someone you're supposed to have already dated and broken up with was fun, but one of the things I liked most about the book was the heroine figuring out what she wanted out she really wanted out of life.

Finished this last night. I feel this is an under hyped romance between two radio show talents. Almost an enemies to lovers trope. But this was a great story, a fun read. I thought there was also good underlying representation secondary to the romance in workplace seismic, grief, and even anxiety. Loved this one.

Solid contemporary romance, with the expected plot contrivances of the genre. Enjoyed the public radio workplace in Seattle setting, but found it hard to believe a millennial on a a local public radio producer‘s salary could afford a 3 BR house in Seattle. The plot twist with the boss was just totally unrealistic and unprofessional. Featured tropes: fake relationship, workplace romance, enemies to lovers, forced to share a bed. #Swoonathon

GondorGirl I'm a huge fan of RLS. She's an insta-buy author for me. I just finished her newest adult romance and it was equally as good. 2y

This is a fun enemies to lovers book. While not one I would normally read, I am glad that I read it. Thank you @MittenGirlPeach
A romance set in a NPR radio station in WA, the main characters are asked to pretend to be ex‘s when their snipping at each other is noticed by the station manager and the station needs a romance/relationship show with a twist.
3/4 stars, a fun and relaxing read with good side plots and well developed side characters.

LiteraryinLawrence That premise sounds really different and fun! 2y
iread2much @LiteraryinLawrence it was! I am new to the romance, and I thought it was a good read 2y
MittenGirlPeach I‘m so glad you liked it! I liked the setting and the characters, and every now and again it‘s relaxing to slip in a book like this. I‘ve got a soft spot for Jenny Colgan, for example, but I don‘t normally read much romance. “Chick lit” can be fun though! 2y

TheKidUpstairs @Texreader I'm loving it, and it probably would have passed me by without the challenge! It's beautiful and magical and unexpectedly hilarious at parts (seriously, the doctor, the priest, and Lazaro was like Who's on First meets the Dead Parrot sketch!) 2y
TheKidUpstairs @Cinfhen they do it every once in a while for gifts and it's always my favourite. Before this one, they bought me The Nightingale because "the cover looked pretty" 2y
TheKidUpstairs @BarbaraBB strong but slow! I'm loving it in small bits, if I try to read too much at once all the names and jumping around between characters muddles my brain. I'll likely not get through it before the discussion, but I'd rather savour it and enjoy than rush through it just to be done! 2y

Catching up #ConflictedWorlds prompts. I used this one for Boss earlier in the month, but it also features coworkers who face conflict while launching a show/podcast. And the female main character faces insecurities about her voice and skill set. (Having just read about this in our #SheSaid book this month, that feels very realistic)

#PersonVsCoworker #PersonVsInsecurities

Eggs Those types of insecurity (skill and work related) can be challenging ... 3y

I read this because of the public radio station setting, and that did not disappoint. There were a lot of references that NPR fans would enjoy. I also liked that the characters‘ careers mattered to them.

I didn‘t realize it was as much of an open door romance as it ended up being, and I also would maybe have avoided it if I‘d known the plot also included a lot of references to the death of a parent. But overall I am glad I read it.

Such a cute read! The dialogue was definitely better than I expected. I felt the chemistry between the two colleagues who went from fake exes to being in love. Very predictable but not in a bad way! While I am not a fan of public radio, it was a refreshing setting for a romcom. It was a fun, quick, and cutesy read!

OK, so I think the write up for this undersells how bad the journalistic ethics violation these two are up to is. Whenever I could put that out of my head (I'm a journo in my day job) I quite enjoyed this - although our heroine could get a touch grating and needy - but everytime the actual fake relationship situation came back around it gave me the horrors again.
