I wanted to like this one! It just never really worked for me. There were SO many characters I was confused for like 1/4 of the book, and it made it hard to care about any of them. And I kept waiting for more about The Drowning Pool, some over-arching story to tie everything together, and it just never came.
It's really messing me up how this book feels like it should be futuristic, but because it's actually set in present day there will suddenly be a paragraph about Nicki Minaj. 😂

I know so many people loved this, but it just didn't do it for me. I found myself not caring much. Not really about the story, not really about the characters. I thought both of the main characters were unlikable… which doesn't necessarily make me not like a book, but it doesn't typically help either. I found the "love" story incredibly weak and insta-love-y. Like everything else, it seemed underdeveloped. I won't be moving on to Wayfarer.

I LOVED this book.
There was something SO great about this book, and I can't even put my finger on it. It was a light & easy read, but had a few gut punches as well. I was instantly engrossed in this world and this life, and I think my only complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed. But, that could just be because I didn't want it to end at all.
If you're looking for any kind of a beach read this summer, this is your book.
