Lawhead may be my favorite author. This trilogy has been a wonderful read. Great characters, some suspense and great action.

As a long time fan of "contemporary christian music," this book was a fascinating read. It goes into quite a bit if detail on the late Larry Normans career and life. It doesn't sugar coat anything and some folks may poopoo it as a sensationalist attack on someone who isn't alive to defend themselves. However the author has done a good job of providing sources for his writing and I didn't sense any type of agenda. A must read for CCM fans.
What a great read. Peterson has done a fantastic job of building the story through out each book in this series and honestly this may be the best of the series. The characters continue to develop but without drastic or completely out of character changes. The plot is consistent with enough twists to keep you guessing and anticipating the next. Highly recommend this as well as the first two.
Lawhead is one of my favorite authors. He does such a great job of character development without bogging the story down. This is a great example of what C. S. Lewis called "supposal" writing. While it's not a point for point allegory of the gospel but rather a "what if" God needed too redeem a people in a place or time that wasn't historical earth.
Well written, short read with good pacing. Very convicting without being heavy handed or judgmental.
Found it on clearance at Mardels. It's just a good mystery with enough plot twists to keep you interested. The tension between the two lead characters develops well. Good enough that I got the second in the series on my kindle.
Met the author at a conference last year and was intrigued by the plot and premise. But the book plods along and never picks up any momentum. I got about 11 chapters in and had to quit.
UPDATE: Had several friends tell me what a great read this was so I picked up where I left off and gave it another try. The second half held my interest better than the first did and I'll likely check out the second in the series.
Had several friends rave about the book and the series so we got the series for our son as part of his Christmas. Honestly, when we first started I was underwhelmed and unimpressed, but there is a point where you realize there's a story under the story and before you realize it you've been sucked in. The characters develop nicely and the plot is the one all ages can enjoy. Our whole family is excited for the next in the series.
I became a Lawhead fan by reading his Pendragon Cycle series. I've really enjoyed everything of his I've read. This book is the first in The Dragon King Trilogy and does a great job of introducing the characters and setting the foundation for the whole trilogy. If you're a fan of historical fiction with a touch of fantasy I'd highly recommend.
