In the Hall of the Dragon King
In the Hall of the Dragon King | Stephen R Lawhead
5 posts | 11 read | 3 to read
A kingdom hangs in the balance...and a young boy answers the call. Carrying a sealed message from the war-hero Dragon King to the queen, Quentin and his outlaw companion, Theido, plunge headlong into a fantastic odyssey and mystic quest. Danger lurks everywhere in the brutal terrain, and particularly in the threats from merciless creatures, both human and not-so-human. While at the castle, the wicked Prince Jaspin schemes to secure the crown for himself, and an evil sorcerer concocts his own monstrous plan. A plan that Quentin and Theido could never imagine. In the youth's valiant efforts to save the kingdom and fulfill his unique destiny, he will cross strange and wondrous lands; encounter brave knights, beautiful maidens, and a mysterious hermit; and battle a giant, deadly serpent. In this first book of the Dragon King Trilogy, Stephen R. Lawhead has deftly woven a timeless epic of war, adventure, fantasy, and political intrigue."

#MayMovieMagic #OriginOfLove

I have a few memories of where my love of reading origin story began...In The Hall Of The Dragon King is one of them. They were read to my by my parents when I was 8 years old. These, in fact, are the exact same books (pictured).

Strangely enough, I've never re-read them. I don't want to ruin the memory I have from so long ago with my now jaded adult eyes. 🤷‍♂️

Cinfhen That‘s so special ❤️thanks for posting and sharing. I wish I could recall and attribute my origins of reading to a particular book/series. I do remember my grandmother reading this book to me which I found hilarious 6y
Leftcoastzen So cool that you still have them. 6y

#bookhaul part 2/3 from used book sale, sff edition!

Someone was getting rid of a Lawhead collection. I have a hard time resisting complete series at used book sales so I grabbed them. I don't know anything about Lawhead though, hope they're good...

BethM That Pendragon series is my favorite Arthurian series of all time. I also love Lackey- she was my very young Introduction to fantasy. 6y
llwheeler @BethM oh yay!! I love Arthurian fiction, so I'm so happy to hear that! Lackey was one of my early fantasy authors too - Valdemar was one of my foundational series for sure, but I haven't kept up with her much in recent years, been meaning to fix that. 6y
BethM @llwheeler same on all accounts for Lackey. 6y

Pickpick

I became a Lawhead fan by reading his Pendragon Cycle series. I've really enjoyed everything of his I've read. This book is the first in The Dragon King Trilogy and does a great job of introducing the characters and setting the foundation for the whole trilogy. If you're a fan of historical fiction with a touch of fantasy I'd highly recommend.

RaimeyGallant Nice review. :) Welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you're interested. :) 7y
