How many of you stay up late like me? Do you wake up early to get more reading in or enjoy sleeping? I always thought readers and writers alike were inherently nocturnal but I knew that couldn‘t be true. I have to admit even in the last days of winter, I relish the Colorado sky. Have a good night!

Finished my first book of my spring semester! I never knew before Monday that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a book and I didn‘t know half of Dahl‘s books were written by him. What a phenomenal read. I loved it. Absolutely amazing. Felt innocence bleed through the pages. And it wasn‘t so creepy like the movie...

Before I get to the guts of what I will talk about, this book was amazing. Incredible at playing with my emotions and inspiring change, awareness, and insight. And I loved the characters! Fantastically fleshed out and complex in how they interact with what think vs what they actually do. But Americanah showed me how different men lives are from women and then when race is involved, there‘s an intersectionality. So much insight in this one book!

Done with my first semester and well on my way to becoming a high school English teacher. I haven‘t read much besides academic books or novels assigned from my professors, including the one in this post that I never got to finish. I‘m enjoying my winter break outside in the climate changed weather in Colorado reading. Happy holidays everyone!

Loooove me some Tyrion! I don‘t know if he‘s my favorite character yet, because they‘re so many great ones... Anyways, this chapter was intense! It ended with Tywin saying to Tyrion, on page 53, that, “You are done with whores. The next one I find in your bed, I‘ll hang.”

Hey y‘all! I‘m back! Took some time to be reflect and value what really matters. Got my life back on track. Even felt good enough to take a selfie, which took me many many many attempts. Anyways, my lovely girlfriend got me closer to finish the ASOIAF series by getting me this book. It feels good to feel good again.

I have felt pretty meh lately. No ambition. Just doing a whole lot of nothing. And it took me about two weeks to finish 183 paged book. As much as I love this book for its drug themes and culture, I wasn‘t into it. I think it was me, not the book, as strange as that sounds.

Took a good break so I can reset my brain, and this book brings my total count for 2019 at thirty books!! Most I‘ve ever read... An incredible feeling. It‘s very small and cute, so I took a side-by-side as my hand for reference

It‘s done and I‘m feeling enthusiastically empty... What a brilliant world Mr. Rothfuss has constructed. It‘s made to be reread and reread again. Everything I‘ve said previously for the Name of the Wind can be said for its successor. As much as I want the third book in the series released...I am more than willing to wait because you can only read a book for the first time once.

HOLY HOLY. I‘ve never read a book so fast. 11 days with 661 pages. That‘s incredible for me!! I don‘t even know where to begin. Everything was phenomenal and there is everything for everyone. The whole magic system is so unique and easy to understand. There are real consequences where I begged Kvothe not to do/go something/somewhere. Drew me in. This is a book that should be read by everyone. I LOVE IT. Top contender of my favorite read this year!

Took a week off to reset my mind (what I tell myself so I can watch tv and play games), but girl, it feels good to read again!! I don‘t have much fantasy on my timeline, but this book is a gift from my old co-worker. I‘m only 34 pages in and I‘m already hooked! 630 more pages to go!

DrexEdit Beware its the first of three and the third book is not done yet. It doesn't bother me, but I know some people don't like starting a series they can't finish! 😊 5y
LauraJ I did the same thing last week. It was lovely to read and watch tv with no guilt! 5y
Rothdell @DrexEdit I actually prefer it this way! I like to be with the fan base and share the hype when the finale drops. When is the new one suppose to hit? “Edit: spelling/grammar” (edited) 5y
DrexEdit @Rothdell well, I marked it “to read” on goodreads in 2014. 😜 there have been some rumors that 2020 will be the year though. Patrick Rothfuss has a huge fan-base so there‘s likely to be lots of hype! 5y

Well... you could say I‘m disappointed. Zoophytes, cetacea, sturgeons, oxyrhynchi-blah blah blah! The story was told from the perspective of a scientist, but man, he droned on and on and on about fauna for ongoing paragraphs, which lead to pages. It felt more like homework than an engaging novel. Did I still like premise? Yes. Were the characters interesting and unique? Yes. Was the book super boring and wouldn‘t end? ABSOLUTELY.

“We now come to the second part of the journey under the sea.” Adventure books are some of the most intriguing reads! I especially love ones that talk to you, almost as if they are self-aware they wrote a book about said adventures. It makes it feel so lively and real.

Okay, so I‘ve finished the book and I‘ve come to the conclusion that Gentry > Everybody. He really was a delight to read about and such a beautifully written character, I couldn‘t help but love him. The plot was decent, even though it made me shrug my shoulders in frustration. I do and don‘t like flawed characters, but more importantly, I hate it when it hits so close to home. I guess that‘s a mark of good writing!

I bought this book from Goodwill, and I thought it was a filler book to the literary canon, so I put it on the back-burner but boy, am I happy I finally decided to read it! It‘s about discovery, family, understanding the little scurries inside life during the hustle-bustle. During this year, I haven‘t thought about more about a book than this. Amazing.

What a beauty of a book! Romance, action, a mystery, a beloved dog, and references upon references of books one should read. The major theme of the novel is discovery and what may curiously sit on a shelf in a bookstore, where unknown words can come alive, described greatly in the above picture. Highly recommend.

I moved from Iowa City to Colorado and the last book I bought from my favorite bookstore was the owners favorite! I don‘t think I‘ll ever go again so the text is already quite nostalgic for me... and if you made it this far in my block of a post, here‘s a wonderful quote from the novel: “The world has been printing books for 450 years and yet gunpowder still has a wider circulation. Never mind! Printers ink is the great explosive: it will win.”

I‘ve read numerous King novels, and with such immense popularity, as soon as he finishes a piece, it‘s put out on the market. I say this because of the innumerable typos in the book. I mean, one of the characters “dies” in two different ways. But besides my pickiness, THIS STORY WAS INCREDIBLE. I‘m awestruck. Every single character had just depth, personality, and a relatability where you can see the people so clearly. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.

In a mystery novel, you need a gripping hand to carry you through until the end. M.T. Edvardsson is a brilliant guide. The narrative is broken up between the perspective of a mother, a father, and the suspect at large, the daughter. The novel offers an intriguing take on the justice system and what YOU would do if you had to defend your family.

I feel like the love I have for Twilight and the rest of the series is merely nostalgia rubbing itself on the pages when I read them. The plot‘s there, some of the characters are there, but the writing feels like a Charlotte Brontë fanfiction and a good portion of side characters fall flat. And I guess that works for some! But do I still love Twilight? Yes. Will I read the rest of the books? Yes. #stillavampirenerd
