I really loved this book. I took my time and absorbed everything. It is likely not for everyone, but teaching through her life story and reminding us that synchronicities aren‘t happenstance. Made my heart happy.

I just finished this audiobook and thought it was amazing. Good mix of thrill, mystery and “horror.” Anyone else read this?

Super excited to start this book. I am reading it with a book club (decolonize your bookshelf).

This book was slow at the beginning, but then it got too good to put down. I knew nothing about this mystery/thriller when I started it, but I‘m glad I went in blind - it was a great surprise. I ultimately described the end of the book as a beautiful disaster. The characters are so well written , you are cheering for some and hate others. You keep trying to figure it out, but I wasn‘t prepared for the reveals.

I am really loving this series and the focus on the Mythology of Latinos, that I grew up with.

It had lots of information, but as an audio book it was hard to follow. I did learn a lot and was able to piece together things from my family and that I‘ve learned. Would like to get my hands on the actual book and see if it is as hard to follow.

I love seeing posts with library books. If your In NYC you can apply for and receive a digital library card to borrow books from your borough libraries and the NYPL (separate card required). You can use the Libby app and the Simply E app (lots of libraries are on there, so look for yours even if you aren‘t in NYC). Best part is I‘ve been able to send books from Libby to my kindle or you can use your phone or other devices to read in the apps.

I really loved this book. I‘ve seen mixed reviews, but I was really intrigued. Slow start, but then you start to get into the story. There are some really beautifully crafted sentences that really make you think. Because of my spirituality the premise of the story spoke to me. Additionally, as someone struggling with their mental health after losing their mother recently, lots of this spoke to my heart.

Anyone using the bookly app? I have found that it really helps me carve out my reading time, especially since I‘ve been struggling with focus a lot more these days.

This book is dark and twisted. A Gothic romance that was banned for a time, give great insights on the depravity of humanity. Can be hard to settle into, but once you do, it‘s impossible to put down. Lots of shocking moments. Read this for a British Lit class and thought it was phenomenal.

She had thought, in her nocturnal and suicidal
hours, that solitude was the problem. But that was be-
cause it hadn't been true solitude. The lonely mind in
the busy city yearns for connection because it thinks
human-to-human connection is the point of every-
thing. But amid pure nature…solitude took on a different character. It became in itself a kind of connection. A connection between herself and the world. And between
her and herself.
