I had known this book was going to be a banger when it came out. I bought it immediately during debut!

You know what happens to books who get bought immediately by people like me though? They get thrown into a massive TBR pile. My reading pace is massively slower than it used to be, so this has been my only summer read so far.

Highly recommend, cannot wait to get my hands on book two!

I just couldn't finish it. It was boring me to tears and back even with the "good" parts because I found it so predictable. I got nearly to the end but I never wanted to sit down and actually read it. I never want to be annoyed by the book I'm reading.

Guess who's still not finished with this book yet?
Oh, hey, it's me.
The new job turned out to be super taxing on my body, which is weird because it's probably one of the least stressful jobs I've ever had. Also, a schedule change and the beginning of the school year meant that the universe was telling me that it was time to try something new. So I'm interviewing for a different job tomorrow. Hopefully before I start a new job I can finish this📘

Sometimes, you just gotta pretend that you don't see the basket of clothes that's waiting to be folded and just live your best life.

I cannot believe how long it is taking me to read Muse of Nightmares.

*Edit* I cannot believe I had to make it all the way to chapter 37 for it to start getting interesting.

To me, this book feels like an endless hallway. The hallway is beautiful, but I still can't shake the fact that I'm not getting anywhere. I'm 274 pages in and the only character development is in a man who only gets two to every other 50. I had the same struggle with Strange The Dreamer, but the story has been so unique that I can't bring myself to DNF the books, but I feel like nothing is actually happening except increasingly creative ghost sex?

Another day off, another day spent lying in bed and trying to finish this book.

Tomorrow is finally my day off! I've worked all week and even earlier today, but right now there is no one telling me that I can't lay in bed and read until I fall asleep. Or even fall asleep and read when I wake up! The only commitment I have right now is to the ribs in the slow cooker and those won't be done for hours. 🤤😌 I am pleased to be alive right now.

Here's what that balance I mentioned before looks like. Reading in the parking lot while waiting for my husband to get off of work.

Life is insane at the moment. A crazy storm blew through my state and knocked large amounts of people out of power. The damage is tremendous. Large, ancient trees were uprooted, landing on houses, power lines and in roads. Power line poles and street lights snapped in half due to the sheer ferocity of the gusting winds. My home has had power restored, though many in the city have not. People are turning to reading to stay occupied. Not all is bad.

I almost fell off the reading wagon again, but luckily my life calmed down a little bit today and I'm able to get some #BeachReading in! I'll have to really work on my balance from now on though because today I got the confirmation call that I've gotten a job! More money for books! And you know, crucial things like rent and food.

While going through my reading slump it was hard for me to finish a book at all, let alone finish one in 2 weeks before I had to take it back to the library. I've done that and I feel proud, but can I do it again?

Pickpick

We all have that author. You know the one. It's the author who announces a new book and you know you're buying it. It doesn't matter what it's about, you know you're going to love it. For me, Holly Black IS that author. Her books have gotten me through many a time because they are more than books to me. They're doors. When I read a Holly Black book I'm walking into a world that helps me, even if just for a while, survive the real world. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Something magical happens when a bookworm who forgot how to be a bookworm remembers. Depression is such a brutal beast. It rips everything apart from the inside until a person forgets everything that made them THEM. I fight this battle on a daily basis and it's hard. But there are days when I remember exactly who I am. Today is one of those days. 🌻💜

I have a weird relationship with this series. On one hand, I find it so unique and nearly everything I've ever wished for in a book/plot. I enjoy the story itself, but something about reading the books feels like it drags on and on. I'm so curious about the story, but I can't seem to actually lose myself in this one. It makes me sad.

My journey to get back to reading is going well. Today I'm lying on the floor using a stuffed unicorn as a pillow with a sleepy cat curled up between my knees. There is a small chance that I may fall asleep this way, but not for lack of interest in my book.

I am pleased with today.

I'm working hard to get back into the reading game this year. It's very important to me that I do, so no matter what I'm going to be reading at least one of these three books. In the past I was a one book at a time person, maybe that's changed. I have started all three of these books. I did read Red Queen in the past, so that's a reread and probably the best place to start.

Happy Reading, Litsies ❤️

My year in books has not been a pretty one. I remember around this time last year I said I would set aside one dollar for every book I finished reading in 2018 and use the money for books at the end of the year. I completely forgot to do it, but I've arrived at my (probably) final tally for the year and I am not only disappointed, I am devastated.
Throughout the entire year I only read three books.

In 2019 my goal is simply not to give up.

When I started this series, I had no idea how deeply it would touch my heart. And now that I've finished it, I feel like I've lost a close friend.

I'm on page 199 of The Midnight Star and this book is definitely not disappointing me. It's been a long time since I read The Young Elites and The Rose Society. To the point where I hardly remember what had actually happened, but something I do remember is how greatly I identified with the main character, Adelina. That still rings true with The Midnight Star. 🌟

What an amazing book! I always feel like I've received something special when I read a Maggie Stievfater book. Something about her words goes straight inside my heart and whatever that something is, it stays there. Sometimes that special thing is the glue that holds me together. Sometimes that special thing is the solvent that allows me to fall apart. Whatever that special thing may be, I am grateful for it.

2017 was not a good reading year. It was the biggest reading rut of my entire life. 4 books all year & 2 were rereads. My writing suffered. However! I'm already almost finished with my first book of 2018 & I intend to set aside a dollar for every book I read this year, at the end of 2018 I will take the money I've saved to buy even more books & I've resolved to make this the year I finish the first draft of my novel! I have big plans for this year

There's always that book. The one you return to. The one that you've lost count of how many times you've read. Maybe the pages are worn and fraying. Maybe, despite the fact that you've read it a million times, the book looks new. Maybe your copy is electronic and you don't have to worry about your pages at all.
No matter how your book looks, whenever the cover opens, you can feel it wash over you:
The rightness of being home.
