I read this book out of series order and didn‘t realize would be the author last novel☹️I didn‘t like much this novel. I found it a little bit rushed and forced. Maybe because I read it out of order?🤷🏽♀️Even though I like always the family drama in her novels. So sad that she retired. I loved Paradise trilogy and Winter series was my favorite. 3⭐️
so-soSo I never thought I‘d say this, but I actually prefer the show. I feel like it wasn‘t complete. We got the answer, but there was never an actual conclusion to the story. Idk. Tv was better.
so-soIn Sept, we hiked the Tour de Mont Blanc - we missed one day due to illness but hiked about 165km of the trail. And audios kept us company. And because I‘m terrible at keeping up with reviews…. Here they come with our gorgeous views!
So many of the characters came accross as whiny and it was just grating. Putting that aside... This could have been so much shorter and I was creeped out by literally everything that the mother did.

Due to being in the hospital, I have decided to work my way through some books. Saw the TV show and now going to take on the book. Wish me luck!
My review for this book is it has a beautiful setting and well made characters and the plot was great
pickIn a first for me1 I watched the show before reading the book. The book (of course) is so much better. The ending is different. Perfect summer page turner .
pickThis was a re-read for me. It was fun to dip into historical fiction but still keep secrets & gossip that I'm coming to love from Elin. For the most part, I really loved the characters but there was something about Kate that bothered me that I still can't put my finger on. I'd love to go even further back in history and get Exalta's story - there's gotta be something that made her the way she was, right?!

so-soThe little Greek chorus at the beginning of each chapter helped to keep me in time. And I liked that there wasn't a spotlight on every weekend. I enjoyed getting little vignettes from the various characters, dipping in & out of their lives and seeing how they had grown & changed (particularly Ursula & Leland!) But I hate this was framed around an affair and I hate Jake for carrying on an affair for YEARS, even before he was married.
