Day 13: M❤️
Someone keeps head butting the book closed...not gonna name names....
Laini Taylor did it again. She wrote a book that I just couldn't put down and that I'm tempted to read again right now.
Perfect ending to Strange the Dreamer! And, it leaves enough room for a possible sequel.
I listened to the #audiobook while making cake. The book finished just as I put the cake into the oven. I might have shed a few tears, but it's not onion cake I'm making.
I'm hoping the cake is to die for.
Also, slight plot spoilers in the comments.

Can't put this down. I had, though, a few times today and I was grumpy because of it. Soon the kids will be home from school and I'll have to wait to get back to the story until very much later today.
Manchee and me are spending some time recovering from Blood Song with the sequel of a previous favorite... And I'm having the feeling this just might be the first time I have two 5 star reads in a row. The writing in Muse Of Nightmare is gorgeous and simply glorious!! 😍
Guess who's still not finished with this book yet?
Oh, hey, it's me.
The new job turned out to be super taxing on my body, which is weird because it's probably one of the least stressful jobs I've ever had. Also, a schedule change and the beginning of the school year meant that the universe was telling me that it was time to try something new. So I'm interviewing for a different job tomorrow. Hopefully before I start a new job I can finish this📘
I cannot believe how long it is taking me to read Muse of Nightmares.
*Edit* I cannot believe I had to make it all the way to chapter 37 for it to start getting interesting.
To me, this book feels like an endless hallway. The hallway is beautiful, but I still can't shake the fact that I'm not getting anywhere. I'm 274 pages in and the only character development is in a man who only gets two to every other 50. I had the same struggle with Strange The Dreamer, but the story has been so unique that I can't bring myself to DNF the books, but I feel like nothing is actually happening except increasingly creative ghost sex?
Laini Taylor another master piece. What a roller coaster ride. Playing games with my heart this whole book. 💜💜
A wonderful sequel that fulfilled all of the promise of the first book... I hope she writes more books set in this world!
My current read. I adore Laini Taylor‘s writing style. It‘s damn near poetic.
Tomorrow is finally my day off! I've worked all week and even earlier today, but right now there is no one telling me that I can't lay in bed and read until I fall asleep. Or even fall asleep and read when I wake up! The only commitment I have right now is to the ribs in the slow cooker and those won't be done for hours. 🤤😌 I am pleased to be alive right now.
Great audiobook. This book closes out the series initiated by Strange the Dreamer. All threads were tied up, although I will say I would continue to follow this crew in future stories if they were written.
I almost fell off the reading wagon again, but luckily my life calmed down a little bit today and I'm able to get some #BeachReading in! I'll have to really work on my balance from now on though because today I got the confirmation call that I've gotten a job! More money for books! And you know, crucial things like rent and food.
I enjoyed the second book a lot more than the first. The idea of otherness was still prominent and I enjoyed the storyline that developed because of the events of the first book.
#bfcr2 - Finished my one book for the week while already having completed Body Combat from Les Mills, walked 5 miles, and about to do some yoga. A day of accomplishments!

"If the kingdom of knowledge was a city, then a swath of Thyon's had been shaken to the ground, and he was standing knee-deep in rubble both in his thoughts and in reality."
While going through my reading slump it was hard for me to finish a book at all, let alone finish one in 2 weeks before I had to take it back to the library. I've done that and I feel proud, but can I do it again?
I had no intention of finishing this book today but I COULDN'T STOP. What a page-turner! Laini Taylor has a way of making high fantasy so human & relatable. This world feels REAL. I'm sad for Lazlo & Sarai's story to end but I'm 100% satisfied (and somewhat glad there isn't a 3rd 500+ page installment).
Side note: the hardest part of photographing this book was not getting my reflection in the cover.

Thank you so much for the awesome #SummerSantaGoesPostal package @tracey38 ! 🤗 These are my most wanted books at the moment and I can‘t wait to dive in! I love the bath bomb, pin, bookmarks and journals, especially the Dr.Seuss journal. The mug is awesome, I can‘t wait to use it for tea. Thank you so much for everything! And thank you for organizing @BookishMarginalia ! 🤗❤️😘
Muse of Nightmares was one hell of a ride, in the absolute best way possible.
I cried at least twice, which is much more than the usual count of 0, in both the happy and sad sorts of ways.
This is honestly near the very top of my favorite-books-of-all-time list, probably within my top 3-5, which is not praise I give lightly. I‘d go into details about why, but then I‘d have to use the spoiler tag.
(And there‘s a character limit.)
There are honestly so many lovely bits of prose in this book that it‘s almost impossible to choose which ones to immortalize in graphical form.
This bit, however, was an easy choice.
Officially started the move across the country and the five-day-long drive it entails, and this is first book of several on my to-be-devoured list.
Is it going to fuck me up? Probably!
Am I looking forward to reading it anyway? Definitely.
I‘ll also be updating more often for at least the next week, since the hectic end of packing has passed.
I have a weird relationship with this series. On one hand, I find it so unique and nearly everything I've ever wished for in a book/plot. I enjoy the story itself, but something about reading the books feels like it drags on and on. I'm so curious about the story, but I can't seem to actually lose myself in this one. It makes me sad.
I‘m being terrible about posting updates for the #bookfitnesschallenge 😬 Last week was not my best, but I‘m reminding myself I can start fresh every day and no one is perfect! I only got in one walk, ended up doing a lot more restorative yoga, had a couple days of kind of half-ass meditation, and didn‘t eat great (too much ice cream!). But I‘m also dealing with some medical and mental health stuff that‘s dragging me down so it‘s all good.
Finished this one in a hurry and started on The Cruel Prince next! I‘m not sure if I liked Muse of Nightmares or Strange the Dreamer better!
Second instalment that comes in second. This is a love story first and a fantasy second which has knocked my rating down to 3.5 🌟. It was a good read and I loved the world Laini Taylor has created. There is a lot of scope to turn this world and wealth of characters into a fantastic series.

After reading Strange the Dreamer last year, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Muse of Nightmares; but as life goes...
Only reading it now just made me remember why I wanted the next book so badly.
Laini Taylor just have a way to enchant!
With writing as captivate, delightful, and dazzling as hers it's hard to put the book down.
Review cont... 👌
Sarai Funko Pop...
She believed she knew every horror, and was beyond surprise.
She was wrong.
I finished this over lunch today. Very good!
Beautiful, amazing, gorgeous, made me laugh, made me cry. I love this author so much 😭
Laini Taylor collection is complete!! ❤️❤️
