1. I woke up tired today but I took a quick shower before dinner tonight and I don‘t feel tired anymore.

2. Not very well. I keep waking up so I don‘t feel well rested. I‘ve been getting 8 hrs of sleep or less but I feel better with 9 hrs.

3. I don‘t know. Everyone sleeps differently. I‘m a night owl. I feel like listening to guided sleep meditations on YouTube helps me sleep but I don‘t always do that.

#mentalhealthmonday

Kerrbearlib I‘m also a night owl. Do you have a hard time waking up early? It‘s always been tough for me. Thanks for sharing! 3d
kelli7990 @Kerrbearlib Yeah, I do have a hard time waking up early. 3d

1. Pretty well. Not sick anymore.
2. Well except multiple bathroom trips. 🙄
3. I like to listen to slow calm audio book readers or sleep stories on the Calm app such as Matthew McConaughey.

MemoirsForMe Oh yes, those many bathroom trips keep me up too! 😁☺️🫢 3d
Teresereading I love MM's Calm story though my current favourite in the sheep story 3d
Blueberry @Teresereading I don't even know the story his voice puts me to sleep so fast. 😄 3d
Kerrbearlib Bathroom trips get me at night, too 3d

1. Hopeful-ish. As long as elon doesn‘t keep my tax refund I‘ll be able to pay off a lot of debt which will relieve a lot of stress for me.
2. Sleeping? What‘s sleeping? It‘s has been the worst, I‘ve had better.
3. Don‘t eat sugar after 8, don‘t drink caffeine or coffee after 3. LOL both things I ignore on a regular basis. Reading helps to calm the brain to sleep.
@Kerrbearlib #mentalhealthmonday

Kerrbearlib Crossing my fingers for you with the tax refund! I‘ve also found I sleep better when I don‘t drink caffeine in the evening. I also try avoiding big meals/snacks later in the evening. I don‘t always succeed though 😆 Thanks for sharing! 3d

1. I am feeling ok… feeling over winter and cold weather
2. Not great… a lot going on that has been on my mind
3. Meditating and/or doing a body scan before bed

LoverOfLearning Not feeling great. Been sick for nearly a month will all random different bugs, including a round of antibiotics. So my immune system is shot. Hard to sleep but have to work. Been struggling to pick up a physical book lately but I'm finding my way back to them. Always love a good audiobook though. :) 4d
Kshakal @LoverOfLearning I am sorry you are dealing with all of that… sending lots of love and well wishes! 3d
Kerrbearlib I‘m over the winter and cold weather, too. Meditating and/or body scanning have helped me as well. Thanks for sharing! 3d

#MentalHealthMonday

1️⃣ I‘ve got a bit of the Monday blues & a tension headache 🤕

2️⃣ Not that great. I have restless legs, restless thoughts & a doom scrolling habit.😬I‘m trying to focus on getting more & better sleep.🛌

3️⃣ I‘ve been using the Calm app for a while now & I recently started some of the sleep features. I like the sleep stories, the ambient music & the Drifting Off with Gratitude meditation.

Anyone want to share sleep tips?

Kshakal I have been meaning to checkout the calm app! 4d
LoverOfLearning I can usually fall asleep in a split second. But I'm sick currently so not sleeping well. Having a hot rice sock or heating pad helps so much. At least just for comfort. But helps too with feeling less achy. That and I love listening to campfire sounds. 4d
Kerrbearlib The drifting off with gratitude meditation sounds awesome. I should look into that. Thanks for sharing! 3d
TheBookHippie I loathe restless legs!!! Seem to be worse when I have migraines. I hope your headache passes!!! I use a heated blanket with a timer when I‘m achy 😝. 3d

1. I‘m feeling pretty good today.
2. I‘ve had trouble getting to sleep for most of my life, but once I do I can sleep well. Lately it‘s been a bit out of whack.
3. Make the room cool (not cold), dark, and quiet. Play soothing music or a sleep story podcast if needed, but don‘t play with your phone for any other reason. (I need to be better following this advice!)

1. Not so great, TBH. I get to have both a colonoscopy AND and endoscopy this Thursday, and since I have diabetes, I get to prep and fast for TWO days instead of the typical one--starting tomorrow. I honestly can't wait for this week to be over.
2. Not so great either. Because of worrying about #1.
3. The alphabet game. I pick a subject (like authors), then I run through the alphabet ... ⬇️

dabbe ... trying to come up with as many names as I can (Albee, Edward, Alcott, Louisa, or even the other way like Agatha Christie). I usually get to around H-M before I'm asleep. 4d
LeeRHarry Hope it all goes ok. I run through places around the world - 10 beginning with A, 10 beginning with B etc, sometimes I take it up to 20. 4d
dabbe @LeeRHarry That's a good one, too! I'll try it. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope so, too. 🩶💚🩶 4d

Deblovestoread Best of luck with the prep and procedures. Why all the necessary stuff has to be so unpleasant is beyond me. Thinking of you! 4d
TheBookHippie 😵‍💫😝I‘ll be thinking of you!!! Yuk yuk yuk. 4d
BarbaraJean 💜 🤗 Hope all goes well for you and that you're able to find rest and spaces of peace this week. I like that alphabet game and will have to try it! 4d
Librarybelle Thinking of you and hope all goes well! 4d
Kerrbearlib I like the alphabet game, too. Keep us posted with your procedure. I‘ve had an endoscopy before and know how unpleasant they are. I hope it goes well and will be thinking of you! 4d
dabbe @AnnCrystal TY. 🩶💚🩶 4d
dabbe @Deblovestoread I tried asking if there was any other way to prep, and the doctor just laughed at me. At least I tried! TY. 🩶💚🩶 4d
dabbe @TheBookHippie Is it Friday yet? I'm trying to think of the most fattening delicious dinner I could possible have. TY. 🩶💚🩶 4d
dabbe @BarbaraJean TY. It really helps my mind unwind. I usually choose authors, book titles, music titles, actors/actresses, famous people in general, or movie titles. 🩶💚🩶 4d

dabbe @Kerrbearlib TY. Fun on both ends! 🩶💚🩶 4d

cariashley Ugh, good luck and hang in there. I‘m still a few years away from my first colonoscopy, barring any other issues, and not looking forward to it! 4d
Ruthiella The prep is awful but the drugs are awesome. The best nap I ever had. Plus they gave me coffee and cookies after. Hope it goes well. 🤞❤️ 4d
Lesliereadsalot Having had both procedures, they‘re actually ok. But the prep! Last time I had a colonoscopy, I fainted on the way to the car afterwards, and it turned out I had pneumonia! Hope all goes well for you! 🩷 4d
TheDaysGoBy Good luck! That all sounds dreadful. Wishing you the best 4d
Butterfinger Will be thinking of you. Keep us updated. 4d
dabbe @TheBookHippie Someday I'm gonna come banging on your door, woman! 🤩😂😘 4d
dabbe @cariashley May the days until then be VERY LONG!!! 🤩😂🤗 TY. 4d
dabbe @Ruthiella Hmm, I forgot about that. I did get cookies after the last time I had one (gasp) 15 years ago. I'm long overdue. I just gotta get through the prep! TY. 🩶💚🩶 4d
dabbe @Lesliereadsalot You are so right. I've had both before, too. And it is the prep that is just awful. And then to have pneumonia! 😱 You poor thing! TY. 🩶💚🩶 4d

dabbe @Butterfinger I will, and TY! 🩶💚🩶 4d
tpixie @dabbe @LeeRHarry great getting to sleep ideas!! @dabbe hope prep goes well and thank got for the drugs that let you forget your procedure. I wonder why you need a two day prep because of diabetes…. One day seems long enough! 4d
curiouserandcurioser Thinking of you🫂💜 3d
BooksandCoffee4Me Oh, I‘m supposed to do this and put it off. Prayers for you. 💛 3d
InkedBookworm13 I had a Colonoscopy and Upper Endoscopy last year (I have to get them every 5 years bc of family hx) The prep is always worse than the actual procedures. Wishing you the best 🧡 3d
bthegood Good luck this week - 💕 3d
dabbe @tpixie It's because I'm on a semaglutide, so two days of fasting, still only a 1-day prep. Thank God. TY. 🩶💚🩶 3d

#MentalHealthMonday check in

1. I‘m doing well. Sleep debt is down & I‘m spending less time online.
2. I‘m sleeping better. Sleep is hard for me due to ADHD & anxiety. I‘m glad my sleep is going well.
3. I use the Rise sleep app to keep track of my sleep debt. I also give my husband my electronics every night & ask him to hide them. That way I can‘t use them in the middle of the night.

CatLass007 1) I know I‘m sleepy. I had a doctor‘s appointment this afternoon and I was actually thinking of rescheduling it because I nearly fell asleep at the table eating breakfast. I did reschedule it because he‘s not in town. He‘s had a family emergency, which is bad for him but convenient for me. 2) I didn‘t sleep at all last night. Which is why I almost fell asleep. I have a friend who is a mental health professional who says that, as a (cont)⬇️ (edited) 4d
CatLass007 general rule, difficulty falling asleep is a symptom of depression, and not being able to stay asleep is a symptom of anxiety. I think in my case, it‘s a bit of both. I suspect I need someone like your husband to hide my phone from me. I‘m sure the cats would like to, but they‘re the only roomies I have. I will check out the Rise app. (edited) 4d
Kerrbearlib @CatLass007 I have a code I could email you for a free 30 day trial of the app. Would you be interested? 4d
See All 6 Comments
CatLass007 Yes ma‘am! Thank you!😊 4d
CatLass007 Although I wonder if adding another app to my life would be the best decision. I guess I‘ll find out. 4d
CatLass007 I‘ve slept well the last two nights, although I‘ve still been fatigued during the day. I‘ve adjusted my eating schedule, which has helped. I‘ve also adjusted when I take my evening meds, which also has been helpful. I‘ll keep you posted on how my sleep cycle goes. @Kerrbearlib How have you been sleeping? (edited) 2d

1. I was doing well then volunteered at an event last night and dissociated. Too many people trying to run the class. Left early.
2. Grounding techniques (smell, hear, see, feel), meditations on the Calm app, reading a book somewhere can see trees.
3. Bibliotherapy

#MentalHealthMonday
@Kerrbearlib

Kerrbearlib Sorry to hear things got hectic at the volunteer event. I've been to events like that and become overwhelmed by all the people trying to run things. I hope today was better for you! Grounding techniques help me, too. I need to use them more. Bibliotherapy is a great future topic! Thanks for sharing and responding! 1w

#MentalHealthMonday a bit late🫣 @Kerrbearlib

1. Overwhelmed with projects of my own making🙄
2. Eating right, working out, Calm app, news diet, focusing on things I can control/improve in my life
3. Asking Littens for book recommendations for specific mental health topics

If you‘re reading, I hope you‘re doing well. Consider yourself tagged😊 even though it‘s Tuesday. Just do the time warp again!

Amiable Do you like the Calm app? I've been debating getting it. What do you like/not like about it? 1w
TheBookHippie I so get number one! 1w
Blueberry @Amiable I love the Calm app. It has tons of soundscapes, bedtime stories, meditations, body scans, music. I get it free through my Kaiser insurance. I use it almost daily. 1w
See All 18 Comments
AlaMich @Amiable I have had Calm for a while and find it very helpful. It has something for everyone. I especially find some of the sleep stories put me out pretty quickly. 1w
Amiable @Blueberry @AlaMich Thanks for your input! Did you consider any other meditation/sleep apps before deciding on Calm? I was also looking at Headspace. (edited) 1w
AlaMich @Amiable I didn‘t really. It was sort of an impulsive decision. I think the variety was what decided me. And like @Blueberry, I use it almost every day. 1w
MemoirsForMe @DogMomIrene @Amiable @AlaMich @blueberry I‘ve been on the Insight Timer app for years and really like it. Great meditations for sleep plus you can search for meditations by your favorite gurus and authors: davidji, Sharon Salzburg, Thich Nhat Hahn, Tony Brady. Lots of free meditations too. 1w
AnishaInkspill I tend to dip into this one, it has a lot of different workouts: mindfulness, breathing, visualisation etc. I like the variety and for reference. 1w
DogMomIrene @Amiable Freaking love it. I‘ll do the Daily Calm guided meditation after my cool down from workouts, like cool down part 2😊 I need to explore more of the Daily content offerings. My favorite feature is Take a Deep Breath where you can choose a breathing pattern to help you relax, or get energized, or focus, etc. the interface is simple but beautiful, easy to follow. I use it all the time. 1w
DogMomIrene @Amiable Also, I sync Calm app w/ my Apple ⌚️ so I can see how many mindful minutes I hit every day. Not trying to beat any records but I like seeing that I‘ve got at least some usage every day. I‘ve only tried to listen to 2 sleep stories and I can‘t remember anything about either, so hey, they‘re working so far when I need them🤭😂 I wish I could edit my Home Screen. You can favorite things and create playlists, but I don‘t like their order. 1w
DogMomIrene @Amiable Finally, for customization, I wish I had more widget options. I use one that rotates through diff content depending on time of day, but I‘d love to have a 2nd widget just for Take A Breath. Like I smash that widget button and I‘m just breathing instead of navigating. Final ick… they‘re real big on “Giving the Gift of Calm.” I see that reminder throughout the app. The whole corporate feel pulls me out of the zen I‘m trying to achieve. 1w
DogMomIrene @MemoirsForMe I used this one back when it was 100% free. Or at least everything I was using was free. Really loved it! I got a year of Calm for free with a special offer. I think it was through a credit card. I used it a bit, but when I decided to really be consistent with my meditation this year, I just stuck with Calm because… familiar. And some of their design elements are beautiful. 1w
DogMomIrene @AnishaInkspill You had me at “EasyRead Comfort Edition”. Joking, but not joking. EasyRead is pretty important. I‘ll check this one out. Might be a new activity to add to my “Dopamine Menu”😌😊 1w
Kerrbearlib Sorry for the late reply! I know how it can be to get overwhelmed with our own projects. Those are great forms of self-care! I should try the Calm app again. A few people have mentioned it. I love the idea of asking Littens for book recommendations for specific mental health topics. Thanks for responding! 1w
AnishaInkspill @DogMomIrene that's funny and yes, EasyRead is what also spoke to me, I guess all we can do is keep trying, and trying 😊 1w
DogMomIrene @Kerrbearlib No worries. Sometimes I‘m on Litsy a few times a day and other times a few days will go by before I can sit down with bookish news here. 1w
MemoirsForMe I keep hearing good things about Calm too. I may have to check it out. Is it a pay-only app or are some meditations free? 1w
DogMomIrene @MemoirsForMe It‘s all behind a paywall as far as I know. Some insurance plans offer it as a freebie. Might be worth a scan of your insurance. 7d
