I enjoyed the reading the family history of Violet, Lucia, and Flora. Each person had personal growth without mother figures in their life and how they found their way back to each other. The book goes through pain and love in the early 1900s.

A quick short story and an easy read. I loved the movie but was disappointed in the book‘s ending. Doesn‘t takeaway the fun I had reading this thrilling story.

As an indigenous Navajo, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A fictional story during the time of assimilation within the US. An important story to be told from the 1915 era, I would have liked to have seen the reservation landscapes during this time. I recommend this read so you can discover Laughing Boy and Slim Girl‘s love story.

I used to have this movie on VHS and would watch it over and over. After finishing the book, I can appreciate the 1995 movie. I liked the difference of story lines between the movie and the book. It was a heart warming read and I‘m glad I was able to revisit a piece of my childhood.

I enjoyed this read from beginning to end. I learn a lot about the Korean and Japanese cultures, how they‘re together but separated. You‘re introduced to Sunja and her journey from childhood to adulthood. You meet the loves of her life.

Why aren‘t you reading this yet? I saw the movie ages ago but going through and reading the book gave me more of Eilis‘ background. From homesickness, studying, love, and loss, Eilis discovers herself but not on her terms.

I loved the OUTRAGEOUS affair(s) in this book, the way you care about the characters in the story and the depth of storytelling that makes you want to keep reading.
