Misery
Misery | Stephen King
The #1 national bestseller about a famous novelist held hostage by his number one fan and suffering a frightening case of writers blockthat could prove fatal. One of Stephen Kings bestgenuinely scary (USA TODAY).Paul Sheldon is a bestselling novelist who has finally met his number one fan. Her name is Annie Wilkes, and she is more than a rabid readershe is Pauls nurse, tending his shattered body after an automobile accident. But she is also furious that the author has killed off her favorite character in his latest book. Annie becomes his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house. Annie wants Paul to write a book that brings Misery back to lifejust for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on. One is a needle. Another is an axe. And if they dont work, she can get really nasty. Terrifying (San Francisco Chronicle), dazzlingly well-written (The Indianapolis Star), and truly gripping (Publishers Weekly), Misery is classic Stephen King...full of twists and turns and mounting suspense (The Boston Globe).

I remember being completely terrified by this movie as a teen. I've always been more frightened by scary stories without supernatural elements. For some reason, it has taken me this long to actually pick up the book.

A question to ponder:
Have any of you been tempted to "Go all Annie Wilkes" on a favorite author because of a twist or character death you didn't expect? ?
#stephenking #completecatalogue #thriller #captive #thriftbooks

UnidragonFrag 😂😂 I have definitely felt something close to that! Haven't read this one, but the movie is pretty creepy. 2w
cherinium @UnidragonFrag Are you willing to share the name of the author(s) that made you feel that way? 🧐 2w

My favorite was Misery, and the most fun was re-reading The Baby-Sitters Club.

People with mental illness are more likely to hurt themselves than to hurt others. This statistically demonstrated fact aside, within the framework of the King universe, season 2 of “Castle Rock” on Hulu is wonderfully creepy. After the dream of the Astros game, it was a nightmare. Tim Robbins & Lizzy Caplan are great, & the real tension between some Mainers & refugees is an interesting plot line. #horror #stephenking #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick

Annie Wilkes is Paul Sheldon‘s biggest fan. Paul is the author and creator of her favorite character, Misery! After a terrible accident, Annie is pledging to nurse Paul back to health, but when she finds out her beloved Misery is going to die, Paul‘s future no longer looks so bright.

With really only two characters in one setting, who would have thought SO much could happen? Great backstory and dialogue. Truly a must-read for horror fans!

SitsWithaBook One if my all time favs. I loved the story within the story that Paul writes. I need to reread this one. 1mo

A thriller from the 80‘s. The narrative is from the popular writer Paul Sheldon who has been held hostage by his psychotic fan, Annie Wilkes.

This book keeps you on edge and I‘m pleased to know there‘s a movie I can watch!

Misery is one of my favorite books, and I‘m listening to the audiobook for this reread. It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read it, and I‘m impressed with how well the movie kept with many scenes.

1. I have tons, it depends on the person, but this was the most recent one I suggested.
2. I have very weird sleep patterns, being an insomniac and all, so I don't actually sleep in my bed anymore. I just throw my pillows in pile at the end of the couch every morning.
3. 79° with low levels of benzene in the air🙄
4. When I was a kid, my mom would make us miracle whip and pineapple sandwiches on white bread.

This book was amazing I finished it a long time ago but it was still a good book. I would say that this book is mainly for people who are 13 years are older, same goes for most of Stephen King's other books. This book is about a girl who keeps her favorite writer held captive until he writes her the story of her dreams. I would recommend this book to people who love thriller and mystery.
