I‘ve been bingeing the old episodes of the My Favorite Murder podcast lately, so I decided it was time to read the hosts‘ book. Fun, fast read, with autobiographical stories. If you like the podcast, you‘ll like the book too!

This was not what I expected. Rather than true crime musings, it‘s musings on how the pair of podcasters got to where they are today. A fun collection of stories and I highly recommend listening to it on audiobook (done by the authors themselves). 4⭐️
#bookspinbingo - bingo!
#NovelNovember - book 3 done!

Another on my #tbr I will eventually get to, based off a podcast.

Unpopular opinion time! 🙋🏻♀️ I listened to this on audiobook and was a little disappointed. I think the title is a bit misleading and I‘ve never listened to their podcast, although I do consider myself a true crime junkie. The self help aspect was a little grating, with long passages about their childhood memories that didn‘t add much to the story imo. The true crime parts were interesting. Maybe it wouldn‘t have bothered me as much if I had ⬇️
Where my #Murderinos at?
(Or something more grammatically correct)
Stay Sexy & Don‘t Get Murdered
This was so heartwarming. I listened to it via their audiobook which was so lovely. It included some improv funnies, live recordings of chapter readings, and Karen crying which made me cry. I loved this book so much. It was so vulnerable and I felt like I was sitting around the table talking with my friends.
I can't decide whether to race through this show or savor it. I love it sooooooooooooooooo much. 3 episodes tonight for 16 points. #scarathlon2021 #teamhendrix @StayCurious
The daughter and I also watched three episodes of Only Murders In The Building on Disney Plus which is another 16pts for #TeamSlaughter in #Scarathlon2021
I thought this was going to be more crime related yet it was nice hearing stories from the podcasters.
A quick enjoyable read that is a memoir with relatable life lessons. You don‘t need to be familiar with the pair‘s podcast to enjoy.
Decided to listen to the audio book this time and it did not disappoint. Also got to hear MARTY!!!
#murderino
I've never listened to this podcast, but I heard good things about the book and decided to try it.
The book was very different than I expected as far as the subject matter was concerned, but I really enjoyed it. The authors give readers a look into what brought them together and how they started their podcast. They open up about their fears and anxieties, while also giving a few helpful hints on how to keep safe and not get murdered. 😉
Loved it! I have never listened to the podcast but after listening to this I def want to!
My Favorite Mug - the MFM animated clips are hilarious (@mfm_animated on Instagram), so I was happy to support it with this purchase. #MFM #SSDGM #MyFavoriteMurderMug
Now to track down the podcast.
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I probably shouldn‘t have read this since I know nothing about the podcast or the authors, but it was interesting. I was expecting an advice book more than a memoir but I found a few nuggets nonetheless.
This one is between a pick and a so-so for me. I'm not familiar with the podcast and had no expectations going in. While I found it a quick, interesting read, there could be a bit more depth.
Last year when this book came out, I was on a self-imposed book buying ban and it was the one book I was ready to purchase as soon as it was available. Shortly after New Years day this year, my husband came home with this tucked under his arm. He told me he was proud of me for making a commitment and sticking to it as he handed it to me, still wrapped in the Half Price Books bag. I was so excited! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
This was good. It sounded like a really long podcast which makes sense. These 2 women have had interesting lives and they are badass. If I were a podcast person I would definitely listen to ‘My Favorite Murder‘. I believe I had heard of/knew of all the cases they mentioned in the course of the book.
They were good to listen to and I liked the book.
I actually ended up liking this one a lot more than I thought I would. Although Karen and Georgia reading it probably had a lot to do with that! If you like the Podcast you‘ll at least like the audiobook version!
Two strong women being vulnerable, giving you advice based on lessons from their own bad decisions and they are hysterical to boot. Love their podcast and their book. 🔪🔪🔪🔪
This book is one giant projection party forced on the readers, as they get a military style dress down from Karen. She bulldozes through your hard won softness and tells you in third person how you suck, and then gives advice for a very specific one type of person. Georgia‘s parts were better, but still unhelpful. This book had no clear direction, and was a complete waste of time and money.
Consider me a Murderino now! I love how honest and hilarious Karen + Georgia are on their podcast + in this book that covers their personal lives.
Wowzah, apparently it's been 3 months since I last posted??? I hope y'all have had a good holiday season.
I was sick for pretty much all of Christmas break and am feeling crappy again today. Happy New Year's Eve 👍🏻
Thankfully I have my Gigi cat to keep me company, probably adopting her a friend soon cuz she's SO BORED/lonely since Gin passed 🤷🏻♀️
While I didn‘t learn any tips on how to not get murdered (or how to stay sexy), I did learn a lot about the anxiety and trauma that each podcaster deals with. More of a memoir than a continuation of the podcast or summary of what they‘ve learned from their study of murderers.
First of all, congrats @Chrissyreadit for hitting this milestone!! To 100,000 more! 🎉🎉
This year, the tagged book was probably my favorite read, but there were several other close books like The Scorpio Races (which I know was published ages ago BUT) and One of Us is Lying, which brings me to my 2020 most excited: One of Us is Next. I am so excited for that book!

Loved it! I listened to the audiobook which felt just like listening to the podcast. I thought the live show readings were a nice touch.
If you haven‘t yet heard about the Mainley Murders Bookstore in Kennebunk Maine, it‘s a wonderful little independent specialty mystery bookstore that carries used suspense, crime, and detective fiction!

Guess what‘s on sale today? 😁 can‘t wait to get started on this one!
So different from what I thought it would be! It wasn‘t the same tone as their podcast, which can be quite snarky (not knocking that!). I found this audiobook to be very heartwarming, thoughtful, and truthful. On top of everything Karen and Georgia are always, always grateful. I very much recommend the audiobook for all the Murderinos out there! 💜🎧 #NonfictionNovember
Here are the books at which I hope to chip away during the #MrBook1inaMillion extravaganza. The tagged book is my audio choice for this #Readathon. My kids/schedule/way of life have me reading in little bits here and there rather than in big chunks so I usually just estimate my reading time, but I might play with keeping a timer this time, just for kicks. 😉

I read the hard copy a few months ago but hearing them read their chapters was so special. ❤ Had a lot of cooking and cleaning to do so I started and finished this amazing audiobook today. 😊
I‘m excited to get into this audiobook!
Oh man... seen this too late and only the super expensive tickets are left 😩
Only read the first chapter and I already love this!
I tried many moons ago to listen to their podcast, but I was not in the right mindset to pick up something new at that time. This book gives a peak into the histories and the minds behind the women who love true crime almost as much as my mother (something I find myself falling in love with, too).
After listening to 100 episodes (still not caught up!) And loving every one of them, I decided to give their book a go! I love these ladies! #myfavoritemurder #mfm #fuckpoliteness #stayoutoftheforest
Just started and already 💕
Okay so this isn‘t actually a book about murders (well, there‘s two in there but they‘re not the main point). However, it does have some great life advice from two women who have lived through some *stuff*. I really liked the advice they gave and the personal stories. There are definitely some quotes that will stick with me forever, so thank you Karen and Georgia. And as always STAY SEXY, AND DON‘T! GET! MURDERED!!
#ssdgm #mfm #myfavoritemurder
Love me some Karen and Georgia! Their generous displays of vulnerability through their emotionally sincere anecdotes and their candid advice were charming, refreshing, and showed a genuine appreciation of and concern for their dedicated MFM podcast audience. Lots of self-awareness, lots of desire to learn, improve, and share that growth.
“When running late, “it‘s OK.” When I have a million things to do and not enough time to do it, “it‘s OK.” When I get stuck in a fantasy about plane crashes or normal girls, “it‘s OK.” It‘s my mantra when I need to override the voice that tells me that nothing I do is OK.”
