So I‘ve decided to try to do the #readingwomenchallenge this year and I chose to read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and watch the BBC adaptation. I loved the book, but I was less impressed by the miniseries. It was fine, but I didn‘t love all the choices that were made for the adaptation. That being said, the acting and production quality were very good. I still think it‘s worth checking out if you‘ve read the book.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Love this book so much. Can‘t wait for her new one that comes out this year! (Not a sequel, but that‘s ok!) 4y

Wow, this was intense! Simply put, this is the story of an orphan girl, Rin, who wins a spot at a prestigious military school right before her country enters a war and discovers some supernatural powers along the way. It‘s a great story and has some very important things to say about war, but it is brutal. It certainly does not gloss over the terrible violence that occurs during wartime. If you can stomach it, it‘s a great read. 4/5 stars ⭐️

annahenke I can‘t decide if this will be too much for me or not. I want to read it but I don‘t. 4y
amjones051989 It took me a long time to pick it up. I had to wait until I was in the right mindset. 4y
Windrunner It has its grimdark moments for sure. But Mark Lawrence:s The broken empire is freaking horrible lol. The soldiers boiling was pretty nasty tho... 4y
