I‘m new to Litsy and it is awesome! It‘s helping to hold myself accountable with my book reading goals and to remember some of the thought provoking and truly inspiring reads such as this one as I manually update my “have read” books. I need a re-read shelf.
So glad didn‘t give up on finishing this heartwarming memoir. Pataki‘s a gifted & skillful writer. While portraying a profound sense of compassion and strength, Pataki takes the reader through her & her husband‘s excruciating experience of loss and their feelings of fear, anger, & sadness after an unexpected tragedy. While it‘s a true love story, it‘s also about hanging on to hope, faith, & strength when devastation strikes without warning.
#weekendreading I‘ll be finishing up a few, focusing on these first. I don‘t plan to finish the Artist‘s Way, I‘m just digging in day by day.
The audio reader definitely brought the characters to life. The main character, Maverick, & his girlfriend, Lisa, reminded me of some of a few people I met and befriended along my adolescence and, at times, myself. As a black youth, growing up in the inner city, one is constantly faced w/ the question, am I this, or am I this. We look to the elders in our environment to support our belief in ourselves until we can stand without the scaffolding♥️
One of the best memoirs or autobiographies ever. Will seems to be transparent and vulnerable, sharing his journey of being human and having inner childhood issues that ran his life-like many of us if we‘re honest. If you thought about reading his book, it‘s a good one. Not because it‘s Will Smith, but because his soul is like ours. He wrote about being on a journey of spiritual transformation an interesting and complex subject.
